Dirtywork Pyro updated. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/952519-dirty-work-wreckers-pyro-wip.html Now another S.A.W. Unit member, back from the "dead". Gave him a new ball jointed head from Shapeways (Calloway75), reworked the backpack to fit the new head, modified the missile to become a big honkin gun with a toy gun bullet clip I found in the grass at the park by my house, drilled a hole in his shin under the pre-existing alt mode gun to hold the DOTM Sentinel Prime water sprayer/folding death ray thingy gun as well. Lots of details under the washes to reference the older toy model too- golds are found in the busy color scheme as well as the blues (darker) reds and chrome yellows that were used.Lots of washes and dry brush were needed to get the grimey look I wanted. May still need more detailing to finally be totally satisfied....Hope you dig! After the events of LSOTW, Pyro's spark casing was found and saved by an Autobot clean up crew. By putting it into a spark containment cell on Garrus 9 after he was torn apart by the Decepticon prisoners, his faint spark regained its potency. He was kept there in order to determine if the trauma was too great to bring him back online, but in the end courage and sacrifice would not be overlooked and he was reformatted into a larger, more powerful frame. Armored up and given a massive amount of fire power, Pyro now works with the S.A.W. unit trying to ensure that any Autobot in need will not have to endure what he himself has. Getting his hands dirty and covering the chassis of other Bots is still his sworn duty and he still has a fixation on Optimus Prime- hence the different cleaner red on his chest, but has a deeper understanding of mortality and the need to protect others from terrible fates.
I love the story, I'm a sucker for back/stories explanations. I really like what you did for this mold and for the life of me can't understand why I didn't think of this in the first place. HOWEVER, of all the bots in the TF multiverse, I think you did a big dis-service to his personality for making him grimy. I can understand gun barrels and such having the residue look, but this guy was so obsessed with looking his best for Optimus, it's almost a sacrilege to have him that dirty. Still, you did a great job and awesome idea.
^ Lets just say his near death awakened his inner Optimus emulation, so now he does not have to focus on his outer Optimus imitation...yeah, that works.
Thank ya kindly for the nice words! Appreciate it. Actually have this guy back on the work table for some more detailing. Update soon hopefully.
I like the mold for Pyro, having owned one, once a long long time ago, it matches the alt mode better then the Botcon version. Good job.
Spelled it just the way it should be. The added W is a reference to the Wreckers, but good eye editorino! I'v neva speld nuffin rong evva!
