this is totally awesome I mean you knocked it outta the park with this. Must be getting expensive though each time you create one right ? these bots are not cheap. Wish I have some construct bots to try this out on because you took this to another level and have the best creations and use of these that I have ever seen
These are phenomenal--I think the greatest design strength of these is how you layer the armor pieces over top of one another--it not only improves the bulk/silhouette, but also adds to the complexity of the color palatte. Can't wait to see more!!!
Thanks! For Optimus's jetpack, I used a forearm skeleton piece to mount it to the peghole on his back. Then I used two engines and two wings from Soundwave. The arm cannons were from the Megatron/Optimus two pack, and I also used the fender pieces from that set. The feet were made by pegging one of those "L" connectors to the side of Optimus's leg and then attaching a skeleton forearm piece to that and a foot underneath. I hope that helps.
Thanks to all for the positive feedback and compliments. It really means a lot. I know the Construct-Bots aren't popular with some Transformer fans, but I really want fans to see how much fun and versatile they can be. I'm a very big fan of standard Transformer toys also, but something about the Construct-bots really struck a chord with me. I'm glad you all enjoy the pieces. Thank you.
Custom Movie-Inspired Optimus Prime Although far from being accurate, I wanted to see if I could make a custom Construct-Bot of a "Movie-Inspired" Optimus Prime.
I can feel you've put so much thoughts (and play time) into these incredible builds! Magnus & Starscream are amazing. Never bought a Construct-Bot, not because I don't like them, but rather due to my addiction to the Kre-o line and I don't want to open another can of worms. Since they could be as addictive as crack and they aren't cheap, I just can't afford to be tempted. As much as I love the toy figures -- I repaint and mod them quite often -- these Kre-O/Construct-Bots bring out a different level of creative enjoyment to the table. I only wish more fans can get into the Kre-O & Construct-Bot lines.
Thanks for the compliment. Yeah, I spend more time than I care to admit, trying to figure out new ways to combine pieces and make new figures. But you're 100% right, these kind of toys are addictive. They're so open-ended that there's just so much freedom to create and build things. I used to mod and customize toys (still do sometimes), but there's something different about these that I find really gratifying. Thanks again.
fantastic work on Optimus man, I can only imagine how many $100s of dollars youve spent on these guys XD
Thanks for all of the compliments on Magnus. And yeah, this does get pretty pricey, buying multiple sets --> but I approach Construct-Bots with a "Lego" mindset --> mixing and matching pieces from different sets. It's sorta like that new Lego Movie -- don't go by the instructions and just make what I think looks cool. Unfortunately, it gets pretty expensive. But the end results are very rewarding, especially when I figure out weird ways of making pieces harmonize together.
If I remember to, I'll post up-close pics of Six Gun so you could see the pieces I used (unfortunately, I don't remember what pieces came from what sets). I'm also thinking of sharing and posting tutorials and photos of complex joint and piece assemblies.
So cool! My daughter has been mix/matching Construct bots stuff too and came up with some pretty neat stuff. She really liked seeing what ya did here.
