If I remove the roof kibble, I'll definitely post it. At the moment I'm not sure that I will remove the roof. Creating the grove to pop the back out while still being able to pop it back on with was tougher than I expected and doing it with the roof looks like it will be even more challenging. It's kind of funny. In the photos I think he looks better with the back wheels completely off. In person he looks better (to me) with the wheels on but mounted lower so they don't obscure his smokestacks.
Thanks for sharing the backpack removal tips and pics. Definitely streamlines the figure. I do like the size of this toy in both modes. I feel it scales well with the human alliance figures. I would like to see someone make a removable face plate for this figure.
Will the backpack still stay on in robot mode? I wonder if it could be made into something useful for prime, like a weapon platform our something...
The way I cut it off, it does reattach. That was why it was so difficult. If I had just cut it off cleanly it would have only taken a couple minues and been less frustrating. Here are the two photos that again show exactly where I cut. The key here is to take as little off as possible. This involves a lot of trial and error. Mine literally snaps back into place. I fact it requires a bit of force to get it back in there or out. It's not neccesarily hard, it just took a lot of time and a lot of patience. I used a dremmel for the majority of the work. I can't imagine how long it would have taken if I was only using a hobby knife. But you certainly could.
i dont know if it's me. there's just not too many moving parts to transform prime to be able to enjoy repainting or customizing. it could have been better.......sigh hasbro!..
I will say this, Hasbro may have made a poor choice introducing this guy as our first taste of what's coming. I know they could have done better. But by his very nature, an effective transformation was probably nearly imposable since just about nothing from the truck besides the smokesatcks is actually used in the bot. I wonder if all the new bots will be like this. I'm also curious as to exactly what Ashley Wood will be giving us (it may not even be AOE stuff- although it seems likely). If they give us non transforming MP type sized AOE figures, that may be exactly what we end up needing.
Here you go. It's worth noting the sword won't fit any further into his hand (the part of the handle the new Prime holds is wider)- I suspect you could force it without doing too much damage, but I wasn't going to try. It looked like it was close to fitting. Of course you could shave off part of his hand or the sword handle as well.
I have an idea for this figure, but I'm not brave enough to try it myself... I'm wondering if it would be possible to build a sliding hinge so the tanks could hinge up, covering the tires on his back... I think that alone would make a world of difference in the look of the figure..
That's either beyond me, or close enough to take far more time and planning than I've got for this guy. But yes, they really should have done something with those tanks. Actually looking at the toyfair pictures it looks like the more or less better version might have the same issue. It should have been very easy to address in the design stage.
I know! Those tanks are the only issue I have with the figure... And the fix I envision is so easy it's comical... I'm just not brave enough to cut a $60 figure :/
I was thinking the same thing. Especially since the box graphic shows the tanks angled on Prime's back. There has to be a way to move them, but you'll need to really mod the figure. Is there a way to pivot them up and lock them in place, while still keeping the truck mode sturdy?
As the figure is out of package, the entire rear wheel/trailer hitch section is one big piece, that includes the tanks. Making the tanks fold up would require cutting that I ma not comfortable doing on a $60 figure... but someone with the skill set of say... SavioPrime would have no trouble making the modifications I envision...
Thank you. The general release leader might be the better mold (it certainly is unmodded), but the size really bugs me. I think I ultimately like this one better- but he did need some work.
