I don't have this figure, although I've considered one. This is really nifty and you have to appreciate someone who tries to improve a figure. Plus one in my book :thumb

    Yup TFP Wheeljack's mitts.
    1. Cut off the original hands and sand/file the end surface smooth.
    2. Drill a hole through the end surface and the supporting strut you find within the forearm (NB the hole in the forearm supporting strut is 4mm, but the hole on the outer end surface is 4.5mm so obviously drill through with the smaller bit first)
    3. Just plug the ball joint in, the gap between the 2 planes and the very slight diameter difference of the drilled holes is enough to clasp the ball snugly.
    4. When transforming you do need a bit of wiggling and positioning (use the built in wrist pivot too) to fit, but they do.
    Simple as that.

Hench is one of my favorite figures. I still remember carrying the G1 Brawn toy around with me all the time. Back in the late 80s and early 90s I think I owned at least 3 of them. I ended up buying another one a few years ago and carried him around in my pocket for days. I grabbed Hench up as soon as IGear had the preorders up and when I got him, it's like I was 8 years old again! There were a few things they could have done better, but overall, I was impressed with him. The one thing that was still bugging me was the hollow rear on the vehicle and the lack of heels. It's awesome that you came up with a part that fixes both. I've never been a fan of dealing with shapeways, but I may finally break down and buy these from them. Great work on the design, it fits the vehicle mode perfectly.

OH, could we get some more pics of the hands from another angle? I might be interested in doing that mod, but I'd like to see it better before I decide if I want to sacrifice Wheeljack for it. LOL

TFP WJ mitts pics as requested

    As per your request Armoredrah.

NB Obviously the Dead End character shares the same mold as WJ and because of its horrid orange, yellow and green colouring, "ends" up on ebay "dead" cheap! LOL

Thanks for the pics! Those hands look even better than I had hoped. I'll track down a cheap Deadend so I don't wreck my Wheeljack. Those really make a difference in how expressive he looks. I can't wait to mod mine now!
