Sharing some of my customs (pic heavy) Some of you may know me as "Toyphotos" from other sites, I just wanted to expand my audience area. Any comments, or posts of your own customs would be greatly appreciated by myself and others.
He's a G1 Micromaster named Growl. I used a Crossover Captain America figure and gave him a head from one of the Star Wars crossover figures.
Thank you. I saw the photos of the Takara version, and wasn't to thrilled about it (to much purple in my opinion).
Thank you, just wish I could find the flash drive I have for some of my other customs. That, or I'll have to resort to digging them out for a new photo shoot.
Well, I finally gave up on finding my original photos, so I decided to pull some of the figures I've worked on over the years and re-took their photos. My custom movie Incinerator uses flat olive(military green) paint and a lot of water rub stickers from an older A-10 model I had a while back. I've been tempted recently to swap out the Decepticon sticker for an Autobot one and turn him into a movie-verse Rotorstorm My Alternator's Jazz and Stepper/Ricochet both have custom made weapons. I utilized some of the "missile launcher" accessories that came w/ the Iron Man 2 3.75inch figures. To make each of my Alternators weapons a little different, and provided different missile "tips" from various "The Corps" weapons I had floating around. I also made a "grapple arm" for Jazz from an damaged "Action Fleet" X-wing. Wanted something removable but also didn't look to out of place when using it. The custom Powerglide was just a simple repaint of the THOR cross-over figure. Forgot that I hadn't put paint sealant on him. Oh, well. Finally, I added a photo of a spare Masterpiece Thundercracker I worked on the other day. I decided I didn't want to wait on Hasbro any longer, so I promoted TC into Starscream. I used a light grey (primer finish) spray paint and got ahead of my wallet's funds. I may repaint in a lighter shade later, but for now I think the darker than usual grey works nicely on him.
Add-ons for Generations Metroplex I've had Metroplex for quite some time, and always thought something was missing. I decided to add his double-barreled shoulder cannons, with a twist. Added some articulation to it using a double-hinged piece off of a RiD Autobot Hightower figure. I also provided him with his minion Slammer. Thanks in part to a repaint of PCC Heavytread (I assure you he's grey w/ a white turret, the colors just didn't crossover well due to camera) and a separate "tower" piece. I intend to add some "robot-mode" pics later to compare him w/ Scamper, the photos I took didn't work out as well as I thought. I also provided a photo of everything in "city mode" as is. I'm still working on acquiring some junker PCC drones to steal some connectors. I think I could attach them to the back of Metroplex's shoulder. (hidden when 'Plex doesn't need them, available for when Slammer does)
Thank you. It's amazing how a little more accurate paint, and a few stickers can improve a Hasbro eye-sore.
Updated photos of Slammer and Autobot City Just wanted to share the final images of my custom Slammer, and "connector" project. I took apart one of the expanding guns that came with FoC Sideswipe. I used the barrel to make a better tower for Slammer's tower mode, and cut off the end of the gun (area that stops the sliding barrel) and glued that onto Metro's shoulder. I'll paint it black or white later, but wanted to show how it works. I may also add a second "connector" later, I just need to find another gun. I also added a photo of my extended ramp. I used a 3" long ramp from an old Matchbox set, just trimmed the end to fit between Metroplex's ramp and it's door. Just waiting to paint at the moment.
Growl! Like the guy FP repainted their swindle into for Warcry. Very cool work man, I dig your Skywarp, he's got that Armada Skywarp tint to it.
Thank you. Yeah, when I was looking through an older "G1 Identification" book, I saw Growl. The Captain America crossover was to close to Growl's look to ignore. As for Skywarp, I'll have to go back and look into his Armada design, I don't remember him very well. I just wanted a FoC version that stayed closer to his G1 colors. Has/Tak's colors have more purple than black on them.
Transformers: Cloud Rodimus (Hasbro style) Just 2 quick photos I took of the custom "Cloud" inspired Hot Rod/Rodimus. Still just a WIP, haven't finished reworking his spoiler, but wanted to share him anyway.
Yeah, yeah, I know.. Zombie thread! I just didn't think another thread was required for customizing a Warbotron Heavy Noisy mold into a more G1 accurate Brawl, so I thought I'd put it here. I bought the Machine Boy Thor Tiger for about $20 because it was far easier to justify that price than 4X that price on a figure that still needed repainting. This is how he looks in Bot mode fresh out of his shipper.. I wanted him to look more like this.. After taking his head apart, I mixed together a little gloss red and gloss black to create a maroon-ish color for his mask, and mixed some red and yellow for a custom orange for his eyes. Something that had always bothered me, was the fact that NO ONE remembers his G1 arms were grey, so I repainted those as well. Also, after seeing Rumble619's mod to his turret, I did the same to mine. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/991618-warbotron-brawl-heavy-noisy-simple-mod.html?highlight=warbtron+heavy+noisy I'll go back and repaint his tank mode into a more brownish-green later, I just need to pickup some paint first. Just wanted to share the work I've done thus far.
