So I've owned the Iron Army bots for a while now. Transformed them once in each mode, combined him as a gestalt, and left him on display in the spare room and ignored him ever since. I mean the IA concept was a cool idea that made the PCC gimmick more interesting but the final results left me wanting, so I decided to do something about it to make the gestalt better. I used PCC Huffer as the torso and kitbashed together an Iron Army "Ruination": 1) a chest shield/wing (Groundspike minicon painted silver) 2) double barrel cannons backpack (taken from PCC Bombshock) 3) a higher/raised upper torso using Legends G2 Megatron parts 4) shoulder cannons from a plane minicon (dunno the name) 5) neck from MechIdeas Longblast gun nozzle (painted silver) 6) head from iGear's City Commander upgrade (painted silver) 7) anti-material rifle from iGear's PP05 Weapon Specialist (The lone tank is DOTM Cyberverse Commander Guzzle, used for scale). I may try to add a mouth plate to him so he doesn't look so much like a weird IDW Overlord. XD
It's a shame tfc hasn't continued with more figure packs for the PCC line, would have loved to see some cars, helicopters, motorcycles, dinosaurs, and a few contemporary tanks and planes to use with all the various PCC figures.
Thanks! Yeah, me too; this little project was a long time coming (after seeing others upgrading their own PCC gestalts) but I've always put it on the backburner until now. I was merely lukewarm toward the TFC Iron Army bots before but now I love them! Yeah, agreed. I was hoping TFC would release their PCC half-track/tank torso bot but I guess that project fell by the wayside (MakeToys seems to be having production issues in releasing their Fallen and Jungle Mobine PCC sets too). I was also holding out hope for TFC to make Stunticon-type limbs for PCC Crankcase to form a pseudo-Menasor, with the alt modes being classic muscle cars (60's Camaro, Mustang, etc.) or something neat like that. I'm guessing the sales projections for the Iron Army guys weren't quite up to their expectations, causing TFC to focus on their bigger combiner releases, which is a shame since the PCC line is one I like for its quirkiness.
...definitely have to arm my Iron Army Bruticus with that rifle now... as opposed to having it stored since Ironhide's got too many weapons! Need to find an alternative for the backpack too... rather not rip apart my only Bombshock for this. That said. Neat.
Very nice work! I did something quite similar a while back, but I like your choice of the anti-materiel rifle and head design! Kudos!
Thanks, glad you like. Yeah, the PP05 van bros. definitely have a glut of accessories but I've been having fun repurposing them for other figures (the buzzsaws go well with RiD Knock Out, for example; the combat knives fit perfectly in the door sheaths on Generations/United Blurr, I gave the other anti-materiel rifle to Generations Sandstorm, Bayverse Leader Jetfire has the two bazookas mounted on his back, gave one of the eyepiece scopes to RTS/United Perceptor for his IDW sniper mode, etc.). Bombshock I have two of; one for bot mode (who's missing his backpack cannons now XD) and one for alt mode (or for PCC combining). There are two screws that attach the backpack cannons to him and it doesn't permanently damage him if you remove it that way (and his bot mode still functions without it). I try not to permanently damage figures and parts during my kitbashing sessions, and the parts are frictioned in together pretty solidly here. Thanks, I appreciate the kind words! I think I may have seen your version in the Radicons section before and was inspired by it, if I recall correctly. The iGear CC head sculpt looks weird on FP City Commander so I never used it for anything previously. Since it was just sitting around being useless, I decided to repurpose it for this kitbash project which I think works out well. I also tried the stock gestalt head that came with ROTF Bruticus Maximus and it doesn't look bad either but I prefer the longer antennae and general head shape on this one more. I'll have to add a mouth plate to him once I find the right-fitting part (otherwise, the face looks IDW Overlord-ish with his tiny eyes and pouty lips). XD I plan to get the Reprolabels sticker sets for the PP05 van bros. and it includes yellow-and-black hazard stripes for the rifles, which should look great with this Ruination's color scheme. Cheers!
