I bet this would be cool if you used a SHMA Godzilla, but knowing that is expensive and maybe wouldn't have what you want. Still it would look so badass.
I thought about that but at that price and because its already so detailed and articulate i wouldnt hold a paint brush to it
What sculpting material are you using? It kind of looks like a combination of kneaditite (green-stuff) and brown Milliput.
Just your basic sculpyII oven back clay, it's quite a few color mixed to lengthen the material so i have alot to use Thanks!
Gotcha. Are you going to bake it with plastic being the frame? Also, watch for invisible fingerprints that will only show after it's baked or during painting. That stuff has a nearly microscopic 'film' that attracts fingerprints like mad.
yeah the plastic will be alright im just gonna monitor it just in case, and yeah i know, but considering all the skin detailing and painting that'll be going into this guy hopefully any fingerprints i fail to get rid of won't show
Nivea hand cream works well on Sculpey and Kneaditite to eliminate fingerprints. Unexpected solution, but I've been using it for years with excellent results. It's also good for treating sculpting tools with during fine detail work.
it just so happens that i have dry skin and use nivea hand cream. when i do more work on him i'll give it a try
UPDATE: I wasn't very pleased with how the face was turning out so I stripped the clay off and am going to start over, I also kinda wondered if I could pull off customizing the figure into the very first godzilla from 1954, idk honestly I'm not sure which I wanna do
I was going to say that I like how it was shaping up, but now that you're starting over, I'll just say that I have confidence in you. A heat gun is a good solution for carefully curing Sculpy. You can get the highest level of control over the baking. I don't have much confidence in a vinyl Godzilla toy surviving in an oven, no matter how closely you watch it. There is also the issue of the fumes that it gives off. Have you ever let it over-cook and end up with a blackened smoke bomb. It's really amazing how much smoke that stuff can make.
