Thanks, everyone! I just ordered 3D prints of the last parts to make "Land Team 11" -- Voltron's lower torso/pelvis vehicle -- and I'm actively designing the four Sea Team vehicles (#7, 8, 9 and 10) that form Voltron's legs.
Tonight I completed assembly of Land Team 11 -- the vehicle that form's Voltron's lower torso. Next up: Sea Team 7, 8, 9 and 10 -- the four vehicles that form Voltron's legs!
I'm redesigning the leg vehicles in order to accommodate articulated knees. Part of the redesign involves lengthening the lower leg vehicles. The right leg is the work-in-progress redesign. The left leg is the older, shorter design.
From the basic idea of matching Panosh Place to planning with foamboard to computer modeling and printed execution, this is by far my favorite custom ever. Seriously, massive applause for this. I cannot wait to see the finished product.
Thanks for the kind words! I'm in awe of the various projects that I've seen on these forums, so to be compared favorably with any of them is a huge compliment! I'll share more updates in the coming days.
Hi! I'm still around. I've become co-host of Let's Voltron: The Official Voltron Podcast, so I've not had much (okay, any) time for this project lately. I hope to resume working on it sometime soon!
I'm working on Rugger 14, the Land Team vehicle that forms Voltron's right foot. Custom Panosh Place-Style Vehicle Team Voltron Toy | Facebook This weekend I'll post a photo of the completed physical models.
I'm glad to further progress on this! All the design work was really inspiring to me, and still is! Wishing you luck with the rest of the project.
This project is nearly finished! I just need to redesign the head module, Rugger 1, in full color instead of all white. (Rugger 1 was the first module that I made, and at that time, I was going to make the whole robot all-white.) I hosted a panel about the Panosh Place-inspired Vehicle Team Voltron project at VoltCon 2019. It was fun to show the project in person.
The styrene prototype had the kind of 80's chunk that I love, but this whole thing, the history, the near finished final result, everything is immensely impressive! This is the kind of 3D printing I hope to be able to make myself someday.
I just went through this entire thread! 6+ years in the making and you’re still determined to finish this guy. I can’t wait to see it complete. I dig the style and the colors, and the fact that each vehicle holds a 3-3/4” figure is amazing. Great job!
Words can't describe your determination on this. The best I can give you is Can't wait to see the finished head.
