i think that Shockwave with a Dalek alt-mode would make a great companion piece. After all, they're both mono-ocular with a weaponized limb. EXTERMIN-8!!!
theres already a dalek transformer, Octus though he never breached copyright by transforming, but its obviously his alt mode, it was in an old comic...erm...google hop.....found it http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Octus_(G1)
So many useful tutorials on this site. =) Yup and yup. Both are in the works! I had to google Heinrad... But if theres enough demand it wouldn't be an issue to do a bit of remolding into peoples favorite characters. Not sure how I would fit a Tanuki into the design though. It already has a decepticon logo on it. I removed it for the Vector Prime renders but the Soundwave ones and the painted model both have it. And I LOVE the idea of changing what it says. Next one. I promise! This was my thought also. They're a perfect match! Also like the idea of Megatron as the sonic screwdriver. Both are handheld weapons after all. Not a huge fan of the Octus design. Almost like the artist tried so had to make him have recognizable Dalek kibble that the look of the bot suffered. But the idea is great, and more props to them! Annnndddddd. Time for an update! With the Instructables contests ending soon [everyone voted, right? ], I wanted something a little more finished looking to show off. So I went ahead and painted the Mark2 design. I'm still going to be making more changes as I go, and finishing out his minions before I call him done. As this was the first paint job like this I have done, I had to reference a lot of the help forums here on this site. Still need a lot of practice, and haven't gotten dry brushing down yet, but just the bit of paint I added made a world of difference. I also wanted to thank everyone here for their support, both here in the forums and everyone who actually checked out the Instructable. As TFW2005.com is the number one referer site to my page there. Thanks guys! =D
LOVE IT! Though you should sculpt a little handle and key slot on the doors, to make them stand out a bit more from the other sides.
Y'know, Soundwave being a Police Box actually DOES make sense since the Master's Tardis once took that form.
I kept telling myself to make sure I designed them into the door before I printed the front. Forgot. Then I was going to make them a split part to print out. Forgot. Figured I would just paint them on. Forgot. ...I guess my mind just keeps not wanting door handles. But you're absolutely right. It does need those little details. Mark3! I'm glad it's starting to grow on people! Just watched those episodes the other night. Didn't realize it was the last Baker story.
Just a quick update on the promised minions. K9 Laserbeak! I've got Mark3 finished and will be printing him over the next few days as well as Laserbeak, for some awesome Soundwave/Laserbeak pictures. =)
I'm really liking the Laserbeak/K9 piece. Although the design does make me wonder if the K9 head could be split into three vertical slices and the two outer ones folded down to make tailfeathers/ailerons. Also seconding any enthusiasm for making the light on top of the TARDIS mode flash slowly.
I love me a Doctor Who crossover. The first time I saw the idea, I wanted to make one. Still haven't got that far. This looks great. Can't wait to see more.
Thanks everyone for the kind words! Originally he was going to be ravage. With the head splitting into the side guns for his legs, but I kept running into the problem of scale. In K9 mode the head is only 10mm wide. Combined with the limits of my printer, and I had to keep things pretty simple on him. Which was disappointing, but something I had to live with until I get something that can print more detail. That's also why the K9 form isn't 100% accurate. I added the side ears to try and hide the head look in bird mode. But I love the idea of the head sides folding down. Something I'll change when I can print it. As far as lights, I had to bump that to a future redesign, for the same scale reason. My printer could never handle printing something that small and be able to get any kind of light in it. Maybe I should just make one that's the size of the new FortMax. Would solve a lot of problems! As he is, he scales perfectly with masterpiece/leader size. The good news is that I'm in the finalists for that new printer, so everything might change. I'll know tomorrow. =) Took a few shots today to try and show them off as a team:
Give it a few months or so, I might be working something out. And even if I don't I'll have a bunch of prototypes to offload. They're not posting the results till Friday. Ughhhh. I should have read the fine print. I'll go crazy waiting that long!
