As soon as I finished painting my Dejector (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/792428-thugmeister-dejector.html) I started brainstorming ideas for his partner. This was the best I could come up with. I attempted to turn the PRID Vehicon into a Cybertronian mode Chromedome. I took off the mirrors and painted the windows (obviously) in an attempt to trick the eye from seeing an Earth car into a FoC-ish Cybertronian psudo car. I may be simply too familiar with the mold because I still see an Earth vehicle but the couple virgin eyes I showed it too said I was successful. My orange paint was too thin and my white too thick as well. (The brown is Tamiya Red Brown spray paint; the orange Tamiya Orange; and the white Citadel Ceramic White) Add to that, as soon as I finished the white started flaking off the arms fiercely and the scratch marks that started appearing in the orange and brown. I'm not all that satisfied with this but it gets the job done. I would love to see someone with actual talent do this. I know at least one other is doing this so I can't wait to see what they do. Comments and criticisms are always welcome.
wow, where'd you get Rewind ? He's awesome lying down on Chromdome windshields : ) and I think the vehicon's slender fingers that sells it. Chromedome's got a mix between a mnemosurgeon and a medical person
Look at words 9 through 12 of the first post. Thank you for the compliment. I'm iffy on the hands myself. Thank you.
Not gonna lie, I think the mould is a bit lanky and sharp for the character of Chromedome. (head looks great, though) But the initiative and the fact that someone's trying to make a MTMTE character besides Swerve is awesome. Still waiting to see this mould as Rodimus, though.
That is brilliant, and I don't know about paint scratching, but for me that looks perfect. I think it suits his recent MTMTE proportions wonderfully. Where did you get the head?
Awesome! They make a very cute couple, and the scale between the two figures works well. The only thing that throws me is that characteristic 'Vehicon hunch' when you view it at certain angles...but that's more a matter of posing than remodding the figure. Very cool concept---bravo!
I agree the mold is lanky and isn't perfect. I justify it to myself that in the comic he is rather lean; excluding his tire shoulder pads. And I haven't found a mold that works well enough for Swerve to me. I do think someone is turning this into Rodimus too. Please do. I'd love to see other people try this concept. I made it just so I could have a Chromedome myself. The Fans Project Code just didn't appeal to me. Thanks. I suspect though in a year or so we might see some of the MTMTE designs in plastic. Thank you. Yup it is a FoC Fireflight (I'm being stubborn with the name ) I did have to use the back half of the Vehicon head for the ball joint port so it wasn't a perfect head but it works well when you force it to. Perhaps I'm too close but I keep seeing the flaws with it. The arms in particular just make me cringe. But I'd love to see if either of you attempt to do this. I suspect some would not be pleased with the scale; Rewind being too small. But I like it. Besides, love knows no bounds. I also agree with the hunch. I try my best to not fall into it when posing him but it doesn't always work. I considered trying to modify the figure a bit more to move the neck but decided it would be a lot of work for what could be accomplished with posing. Also the head already has issues with transformation as it is so that wouldn't help. But thanks. I'm glad you like it.
It works way better than I ever would have guessed, I like it. I'm working on a Chromedome too--same head, but different body.
I'm doing Chromedome as well. Don't feel too bad about the white paint job, Citadel White is just a jerk to deal with.
