Got this Schleich Saichania(forgot it wasn't really and Ankylosaurus) on sale cheap at a Hobbytown USA once back in 2006, I figured the better looking the dinosaur the better the custom would come out.

Well I scratch built the turret improvised some missiles started painting then he set until now and I finished the few paint apps he needed.

Touched up the body a lot I don't have another but I darkened the back shell a lot and the spikes are brought out more that the original.

This looks great, I've always wanted to do something similar with Revell's Tyrannosaur.

Thanks plan on digging up more of my old unfinished stuff as well.

Yeah the problem with doing these is finding a dinosaur made out of a plastic that will take adhesive, most of those older dinosaur kits or even new ones cost a lot more that some of those dinos you can find at mass retail, unless it's those Papos they look great but are super pricey.

This thing is giving me Turok: Evolution flashbacks. you try taking down an Ankylosaur with rocket batteries strapped to it with nothing but a bow and a tomahawk

ha, glad i'm not the only one who have thought about doing this, they defo need to revamp it and not just the toddler range of dino rider what imaginext done/doing

    this looks great

i made some ages ago using plastic figures of dinos rather than plastic model (from ranges jurassic park, the king kong film and other toys like dino hunters from ELC etc) but also used magnet so the piece/s de-attached when wanted

Great work, makes me want to bust out the old tools and start working on my projects again, I'm trying to make the Imaginext toys look better, the set that came out that you could remove the armor and form a robot it's to bad, but the scale is way off, but then again that just gives me more to work with, here's hopping that I can come just close to what you've done here.

Well it seems a lot of people want Dino Riders back, unfortunately I think Tyco still own the rights to that property, but then again since Imaginext has been making their take on the product it's hard to tell, but with a little credit Imaginext has come out with a few good pieces that I would love to seen made for the Dino-Rider line.

But just like any good property there is always going to be very bad failed attempts, Unimax Dino Warrior line being one of them, seriously if you read the back of the packaging it's identical to Dino-Riders, though instead of really cool Aliens like Rasp, Antor, Gils, and Krulos, you get, dollar store blue skin cross eyed, trolls. No really one of these characters with the spiked helmet is cross eyed, with a goofy snarl, and the Dinosaurs, A.K.A. Zaurids, look very detailed and made of very durable stuff, they just look like mutated Dinosaurs that got cooked to long. The Neomen, the Heros of this line ride their Zaurids using mental powers, and their figures are no better in quality, I did get a few of them when they had a very short run in target store near me, mostly the Darkthal (evil blue guys) and their Zaurids (seriously why call them Dino Warriors if you're going to call their Dino creatures Zaurids?) and kind of have them as a Rulon experiment gone terribly wrong, DARN YOU RASP!

hopefully, when they do come out with an updated line, they don't stray to far form the original line, like make the rider figures really poor quality like the Defenders of the Galaxy mini figures, or the Avengers age of Ultron mini figures, and make them about the same way the did with the original line, then I will be happy, so many times have I seen a reboot happen and they cut to many corners and charge an arm and a leg for their poor efforts.

This is awesome! Was one of the best toy lines back in the 80s, and I love seeing homages here.

Thanks guys oddly I had just got this out and put on my table in the living room.

I have most of those Imaginext Dinos, the funny thing is even though its taken like 20 years, Mattel acquired Tyco in the 90's Mattel is Imaginext and they made those figures.
