wow! wtf cant hasbro do this for us? its bad enough they shrink sizes and raise prices continuously. sorry i digress. absolutely beautiful job once again. i still cant find this guy at retail.
you did a really nice job on this guy. It would have really been cool if you could have mimicked the door decals from the show. As it stands. he looks pretty close to the show model.
Because you'd be paying around $30 for deluxes and $50 for voyagers. And while you or I might fork over the cash for that, you can bet little Jimmy's mom is going to say "Forget it"
Whoa. Flawless job. Might I ask, what kind of white paint did you use? I plan on doing the arms and crest myself, but I can't seem to find the right shade.
In a place called perfect all transformers come painted as nice as Cheetimus prime's. But alas we don't live in a place called perfect....Sigh
Oh, come on, HAsbro! When are you going to release a figure such beautifully painted as this one? T.T Such amazing colors!
Just so you know, I blamed this thread for my purchasing of paint supplies and doing my first brush paintjob on one of my TF's. I've been doing sharpies and paint markers on various members of the prime line to varying degrees of success, but after seeing this, I couldn't let Smokes go without a more major overhaul. First time using real paint and masking tape =o
I actually spent several hours last night painting the blue car bits and adding details to the front and back. Not sure how well the masking for the chest will work out yet since I want to put another coat on it first. Figure I'll just clean it up afterwards. Since I could never do that striping you did, I chose a nice blue that almost matches his normal paint, but is slightly metallic. I need to get a different brush like a small flat brush though as I bought round ones and realized quickly that after they get used a little, they lose that nice sharp point and detailing becomes impossible. Not quite as smooth as I'd like either, but I think it still looks a damn sight better than it did. Masking was kind of fun, except I hadn't figured out to use my exacto along the edge of it before pulling it off the hood so I'm going to have to clean that line up...probably just with another coat done properly. Anyway, not trying to steal your thread...just wanted to let you know the trouble you've caused =)
I had much trouble painting white...for hiding his blue strips on the head, did you use a layer of primer first? Or did you wash off the original blue paint?
