What are your thoughts on how to release this kit?

  2. Take up to 1 year to design & release via 3rd party. I can WAIT so I don't have to PAINT.

  3. Do both Shapeways (release soon) and 3rd party. (KO's will likely happen but I want the original)

I have been hoping a 3rd party company would come out with upgrades but I guess they all to busy with their gesalts. This kit looks AWESOME! How are you planning to make the parts? I am really interested in it. I agree this figure as so much potential and can't wait to see the finished product.

I was waiting on Echo to do this, as it took me less than 5 days to find all 5 bots locally! Blast Off at K-Mart for $9.97, Onslaught, Vortex and Swindle at Toys R Us (price matched with K-Mart) at $31 and Brawl at Walmart for $17.32 unfortunately! Still bought all 5 cheaper than ebay or anywhere else I've seen them online. They've been in the boxes, waiting for something like this! Looks like it's time to take them out!

with the extra parts in the individual robo-modes you could beef up the back end of onslaught to make it look more game accurate

I'd certainly be interested in a set. :)

Curious though, will you be test-ordering a set in SWF-Polished? (once you're sure it works in Strong-White-Flexible? Typically, the tolerances for gripping need to be dialed up by a milimeter or two on pegs, etc. -- since I prefer to customize/paint my Shapeways, I don't mind things been too tight -- the issue is with things being too loose after being subjected to the tumbler used to polish Shapeways parts.

Hmm, not 100% sure what you mean there..I think you're saying an entirely new forearm but where to put the old half of Blastoff?

In terms of the solution today, there is a plate that fills in and creates a new forearm inside the back part of Blastoff...it's in the CAD pics...I'll add a screenshot to show how it works and then perhaps you can tell me if this is what you had in mind. :)

Yes, polished is best and you're right it wreaks havoc with tolerances, in addition to measuring with calipers I'm designing in features that provide more forgiveness if tolerances are off a bit...thing like little ribs that can be sanded down, new peg design etc.

    -----------

I noticed there were questions again about the G2 version: yes this should work on any FOC Bruticus provided you don't mind doing some painting. I wish I could offer painted parts but I'm just a regular fan with a normal day job doing this project from home, so Shapeways is the best way I can make this available to everyone!

Thanks for all the support guys!!!!

All right, now I have some thinking to do. Either get this wonderful set, or get a 3DS. If I can see some in hand images once the thing has actually made it's way over to you & it looks perfect, I may have to buy it.

This looks good, however, I do think the shoulder area could use a bit more beefing up. The forearms are just so big on that version of the transformation that it still looks a bit off.

Have you thought about using a different transformation to get the results you wanted? The Peaugh transformation on blastoff is pretty good proportionally. Maybe you can tweak off that a bit. Just a thought. I am a big fan of your work btw.

Also, you ever think of reaching out to Dr. Wu and seeing if he would make these parts?
