What are your thoughts on how to release this kit?

Wait... are those Shapeways prints or did you use another 3D printing service? They look fantastic!

Dude, this set is awesome. Looking forward to getting one for my G2 Bruticus.

Have you considered getting a 3D printer and selling these (and your other kits) yourself? Some printers like this are actually not very expensive...

Posted this news (as well as your thread) in our Facebook Philippines Transformers toy group. A lot of us are expecting this add on kit to arrive.

BTW, do you have any shots at the back?

Thanks very much! I've decide to paint-up the add-on gun..although it won't be a final part of the kit, it will be interesting to install it just to capture the original intent.

If there's enough demand, I'll make it available separately.

I don't know the cost yet...with the changes planned I will add cost to the feet (I'm going to improve the ankle tilt) and add cost with the large back cannon; however, I will remove cost by simplifying the trailer if I can figure out a way to make it transform and install on his back.

In addition, I'll offer a few different kits so there will be a few different price points.

I'd say my current Hercules kits on Shapeways are good guidelines for the cost...

Hmm, not sure. Are there any Photoshoppers in the audience? I'm sure the image below could be easily colored a few different ways to see the result. (Would do myself, but I'm trying to save every possible moment for finishing the kit!!!!)

    Thanks!

Yes, i did think about it. For example Mega Moon Man has a nice FDM printer at home, and it's nice for structural parts, but the surface quality may not meet many of your needs. The parts I'm showing are polished SLS--much higher cost, more toxic to operate, need a polishing machine etc. But I should look at costs and other Rapid prototyping/3D home printers again...Do you know of any in particular? What about print in color with an injection molded finish (holy grail!)

Long story short, I don't think I could beat Shapeways prices plus they handle all the production+shipping which gives me more time to design!!! AND, if I had an extra $10K lying around I'd rather spend it on injection molding tools so I could mass produce these babies in color!!!

Thanks for the support! I'll add some more pics of the back/without the top parts/etc really soon....

    Hi,

Been following this eagerly (and waiting for it to be available so I can get predaking/devastator/bruti all at one go) and may I offer an opinion?

The slippers are somewhat lacking in detail such as panel lines. If you notice, the bruticus figure itself is pretty jam-packed with details. It looks somewhat too large, and gives a macdonald-shoes vibe to it. My suggestion? Lower the height of the protruding part of the slippers (brawl's ok, maybe just swindle?), and add some panel-lines/details/layers to it. Also, not too sure about the round protruding part at brawl's slipper. Might be nicer to make it angled as the overall bot doesn't really have any curves.

As for the chest, looking at the pictures I realised that the chest piece is actually pretty much formed from "layers" which gives it lines and a unique textured look. Your current piece has the concept right but I still feel that it needs more lines of varying thickness to give contrast, especially since the chest piece is so big.

I gotta say that painted up retail deco you got going on looks fantastic Echo. The feet especially look so natural to the overall Combined form.

I'm really excited to see some round 2 pictures when the next batch arrives.

Even unpainted it already looks cool. This is something I might be interested in, the fact that all the extra kibble combines to form a trailer is a huge selling point for me.

Awesome looking stuff Echo, I'm wondering 2 things. 1) what is the measurement across the back of the hands at the knuckles? 2) what size port do you have the hands fitting into?

I'm just curious if my Kreon Bruticus hands would work or not. They measure 12mm across at the knuckles (not counting the thumb). They plug into a 5mm port and are 21.3mm from fingertip to base of the wrist.

I have a prototype set on order and should be arriving in the next day or two. The caveat is that they require the customer to supply the axle for the hinges by way of a paperclip; but have joints where the fingers attach to the palm, a mid finger knuckle, a thumb swivle, all 5 fingers are separate and a wrist hinge.

Thanks for the interest...many posts ago, I talk about some resculpts of Brawl's foot as part of the next update...you'll only see the parts improve as I move forward.

Thanks! Finally, someone that likes those fins!!! I love them!!! ;)

    Thanks man!

Yep, and integrating the trailer into Bruticus' back is my next, MAJOR challenge!

Hey Wulongti! So glad to see you here man, thanks for the post. Dude I LOVE the Kreon Bruticus hands you sculpted...so cool. And yeah, it's worth having the paper-clip axle to get the articulation. Nice job!

I_think_those hands are little bit small. When I get home I'll give you exact dimensions. Would you be willing to make a slightly scaled up version?

Indeed it is a 5mm male peg on each hand that plug into a 5mm socket hole in each arm.

Again, great to have some collaboration here...by you helping with hands I can focus on the rest of the kit--maybe there's a way we can cross-link our Shapeways sites so we both get the traffic?

Yeah man, that'd be awesome. :D

Let me know how big you want these hands. Bear in mind that these are going to be HUGE on the Kreon combiners rather than "in scale". As fists they are roughly the size of a Kreon torso. I'll have to modify the palm either way though since they currently are designed to hold a 3mm post. Once I get your measurements I can make the modifications.

As for cross-sell, I'm all for it. In the descriptions for your items you can use some HTML to include adding links so it's an easy thing to add a cross link in there.

As you can see, he looks pretty much the same as factory from the back....but I will be (hopefully) figuring out a way to integrate the trailer into his back so that should bulk it up with some wheels and frame back there...

Dude, as said, this is awesome.

I will add my own hope though. Can you give Onslaught new upper arms some how? His robot arms SUCK. Maybe the chest shield could be used to enhance Onslaught's robot mode?
