What are your thoughts on how to release this kit?

IMO, the big thing that bugs me is that the chest shield doesn't match up at the bottom with his normal chest. Any chance of that getting fixed?

This is nothing short of awesome, man.

I don't care too much for the chest shield and waist, much--they look a tad too big--the shield is more straight than angled up. I'm sure you're still working issues, out, but what you've done is amazing.

Any chance you can make some inner thigh covers for Bruticus? Inner thigh covers, I think, will help bulk his legs up a bit as well as cover up the hollow bits that stick out now with these enhancements.

Have you thought about approaching the chest shield like this:

Is it possible to make a new cover for Blastoff, one that completely covers up the nosecone and bulks him up a bit like the above picture? I'm not sure if it'll look out of place on this toy or not:/

Bruticus' waist is a bit smaller I think or at least it looks smaller when I look at this picture:

The hands you've made are just awesome, way better than the crappy ones that he came with. Any chance you can make articulated fingers? If not, how about a few sets of hands with different poses, similar to Kaiyodo's Revoltech Transformers?

    EDIT:

Could you show us more of the ankle tilt, please?

I originally had it as a single piece but I separated it to preserve the waist articulation.

@Transformed: no, I won't be making all those additional parts for the original kit...maybe down the road...the reason why is it would greatly add to the schedule and cost of the kit...because Shapeways is costly, I'm doing all that I can to keep costs reasonable.

As for articulated hands, I'm going to try to team up with a Shapeways member who has experience doing them do they could be purchased as an option. :)

Is there anyone out there that actually likes the upper chest the way I did it? Because to be as direct as you guys are being I actually like it the way it is today and I'm having a hard time seeing how it doesn't look like the game. I'm seeing this in person and it really does look good...and remember its white now---it will look much better painted.

As mentioned I do plan to tweak the waist piece...that will help. Also the color will be very dark when painted which will blend much better.

I don't mind opinions, but I can't please everyone or I'd be making several custom kits here and I can't afford it...

It ISN'T horrible, so I wouldn't sweet it too much, man. I just think it's a tad to high, and big. BUT. If you like it, STICK WITH IT:thumb  This set is YOUR baby, and we are all just happy you're kind enough to share it with us.

You're most likely correct. Once painted, this will look that much more glorious.

    ^^ thanks...

And I will be tweaking it...I have to make it snap on better and fix the current blastoff shield interfering with the spikes (slightly narrower?) but a larger redesign is unlikely...

The waist on the other hand, needs help. It bugs me too. ;)

Wait a minute wait a minute...I finally figured this out. I looked at my pictures again and realized whats going on...

In some pictures I meant to show the waist articulation so the waist piece looks shifted to one side---it's actually Bruticus rotated at the waist. Also, the waist sticks further forward than the bottom of the chest, further enhancing the look of misalignment.

    A Ha!!!

This will all look better when I fix the waist guys...you have my word on it!

I know you said you will be tweaking it but I'd buy the way it is now, and I don't even have a Bruticus.
I will buy FOC Bruticus for this not the other way around.

The chest piece might be just a tad too wide in general, but I imagine that is a circumstance of fitting over Onslaught as a whole. so no worries to that.

However, the top of the chest is angled too much, and the two spikes" seem angled inward towards his face too much, on top of being a bit short.

Gotta make the top brim of the chest piece a bit more flat and less angled, with bigger straighter spikes.

Take a look at in game models a bit, and it is easier to see the difference.

As soon as I heard Echo was making these pieces, I went out and bought all the FOC Combaticons! I had no intentions of buying them, before he decided to do this!

He designed this by looking at the game pics. That's the goal towards these parts I believe? I like the chest, but if it he could get it almost like the game pics, it would be most amazing!

Echo, I like the chest, but like I said above, it would be really amazing if it looked like the game model a little more? Does that make sense? As for the part on Blast Off, I personally think it needs a little more tweaking to resemble the game model. Lastly, I'd really love to see something like a flamethrower piece for Blast Off!!! Maybe you can mold it behind the hand somehow? Then, all we'd have to do is pull off the fist and reverse it to have the flame thrower? Does that make sense? Do you have any idea to make a different head for him, maybe with LED's? I do want the Brawl gun piece too! Everything else, I'm happy with!

Echotransformer, any plans on making upper leg attachments to make it look thicker/stockier?

Good question, I totally forgot to ask about this as well? I don't plan on breaking mine down into alt modes, but for the ones that do, it would be cool to make some sort of box that snaps together/unsnaps around the legs?

Thanks for describing the issue with the wing guys, I'll make the second version straighter. I was just trying to add a bit of character but I can see that backfired, lollzzz

I might do thighs...it's hard cause they're wide to begin with unless someone can show me where they really need the beefing up...and these wouldn't fit on the trailer as I really want all the parts to have used in both modes. But for those who just want to resculpt the gestalt, I'm willing to make a set.

I'm afraid I can't go too nuts with additional parts guys due to expense...many of you may not realize how much this costs me... I'll do my best, but just keep in mind this is all out of my pocket unless by some chance the kit sells really, really, really well. (it will take selling dozens of kits to break even)

I'd say talk to some people once you have the final designs and see if you can cast it. If you sold cast pieces it would likely be cheaper than through Shapeways and thus more people might buy it.

you could check with Maidenjapan and see who he talked to for his junkion upgrade sets. Once you get it all designed to your liking. The interest is there, I know I want a set.

I'm sure you'll get a great number of people buying this, especially with the supposed Platinum Edition Bruticus vs. Grimlock announced at toyfair, which I am VERY interested in seeing.
