It started as a joke, me trying AM Lio Convoy's (Prime Thundertron's) head on DOTM Deluxe Topspin. Then it struck me how Thundertron's face kinda looked like Alpha Trion's, and how the proportions of the amalgamation above was actually okay. The claws really bugged me, so they had to come off. Result was not bad, actually (forgot to take a pic), but I wanted the figure to be able to hold a sword. Then I realized that I had an extra pair of hands from BTS Optimus, and I tried them on. They are a bit bulky for his arms, but will serve their purpose for now. To make him more like Alpha Trion, I need to paint some purple and silver highlights, of course. The car bits make for decent shoulder pads, and look like they can accommodate a cloth cape. I'm also thinking of giving him chest armor to make him more Alpha Trion-like. Comments and suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks. UPDATE: Added better hands, some paint. But not done yet... UPDATE 18 January, 2013 Bot mode basically done. Just waiting for his cape.
its scary how that head looks good on a figure of that side nicely done! Straight head swap, or will you paint him up some? I think I like the idea of Alpha transforming into a car.
Thanks man. This is far from done, though. I will give him better hands: one solid open fist for a sword, and the other an articulated hand. I will paint him up, he badly needs purple and silver highlights. I'm also thinking of giving him a new chest, and a cape. Once the bot mode is solid, then I can finish the detailing on the car mode
That's impressive. Did you change the blue paint from the second to third set of pictures?? The second set looks more purple-y, .
Aw, damn, I just noticed, thanks for pointing it out. Camera's white balance or what have you is off. Bluish paint on his arms and shoulder guard should be purple, all the rest are the original blue of Topspin. I ordered something online for his cape. This: M.S.G Weapon Unit 19 Free Style Shield (Material) Item picture1 Not sure yet if it will work, I hope it will. By the way, thanks for everyone's support. I've just started with this custom stuff, and I'm still learning the ropes.
