BUUURN for the GLORY of the ROYALTY!!

Inferno was my favorite character in Beast wars for a long time, until most of the others became Transmetals and left him behind as a joke. Still, he sometimes managed to hold his own.
My vision of a Transmetal Inferno was a high tech psychotic pyromaniac robotic nightmare with longer range incendiary weapons and a jet mode with weapon range comparable to an F-22 Raptor.

Using BW Scavenger, who was originally intended to be Transmetal Inferno anyway, I modified the hell out of the figure to make the Transmetal inferno I always wanted.

His new flame throwers can be swapped out for hands in robot mode, and extend for an incendiary sniper form. In bot mode, they can be attached to his back as jump jets or flamboyant decorative wings, and in ant mode they hide away under his ass.
With the leg joints tightened (with superglue and nail polish) and the wheels from the original 3rd mode removed, he has no problem standing on his legs alone in ant mode.
The hands can store away in his backpack when using flame weapons in bot mode.
As you can see, I kept the Transmetal parts because to me that's what makes them Transmetal, but I did add more red fade to it.

    Hope yall like him!

So first I see your other stellar Inferno custom, and then I see this. These are just too good and the only thing that would make them better would be if they were sold in stores.

You've done some really good work here, as always :thumb

If anyone wants to try their hand at this, I've got a few of the base figures as spares for sale. PM me if you're interested.

Thanks guys! I added a shot to the OP of the original Inferno and TM Inferno next to each other in ant mode.

I guess I'll start off by saying that I really like the color and the reshaping that you accomplished with this. I have been looking into building a Bionicle version of this mold but without the drill vehicle mode, and this has given me quite a bit of inspiration.

I'm used to typing up reviews on Bionicle creations, and I'm not nearly familiar with Transformers molds and stuff as I am with Lego parts, but I'll do my best on this.

First of all, the robot head sculpt looks really nice and it's cool how one can tell that it's Inferno just by looking at the head. The red eyes, the white teeth, the "sideburn spikes" (or whatever they're called), they all work together to keep Inferno's general head structure the same, and that's something I really like. The ant head also looks really good. The translucent green eyes are especially nice.

The torso looks really good; I like how the torso has what looks like an ant head, like how it was on the original Inferno mold. I really like how you painted "mandibles" on the lower torso section. I'd actually like to see a picture of the back of the robot mode, if there's one available, but if it's too much trouble then please don't worry about it. I just wondered how the metallic orange from the thorax works with the robot color scheme. As for the beast mode, the metallic orange looks really, really good. It's just a shame that there are noticable gaps when viewed from the top and the bottom, but that can't be helped.

The one thing I didn't really like about Transmetals was how it could be difficult at times to tell which characters are which and how the color schemes were so different from the original characters. Of course, that's not a problem here at all, and it's one of the things I love about this. The color scheme is definitely based on the original Inferno, but it also has that Transmetal feel to it, like the silver parts on the ant lets and mandibles and the metallic orange, as I mentioned earlier.

Speaking of the legs, I at first thought the ant legs looked a little out of place because of the silver and red ratio, but now that I look at it more it looks much better; I especially how the lighter silver looks almost like some kind of tubing. The robot legs look good as well and I like how there's more red and black, which is again due to how you painted the color scheme like the original Inferno.

The robot arms have a nice consistancy to them and, again, if it's not too much trouble, I'd like to see a shot of the back to see how the split ant head looks on the forearms. I'm just not really sure on the hands: on one hand (ha ha), I like the long, spindly look on these, but on the other I liked how Inferno had only three fingers, and I almost wish that this were the case here. Either way, I like the hands, so it's not a negative point for me.

The firestarters look amazing. Not only do they work well as flamethrowers. but they also look good attached to the back. They also look good attached to the front in vehicle mode. They don't exactly have that Transmetal feel of bug feel to them, but they still work well. From the lighting, however, the red doesn't seem to quite match the red of the rest of the figure. Is it the same color?

Really, the only part I'm not perticularly excited about is the jet mode. It's fine as it is, and I think it's cool that you came up with an entirely new vehicle mode, but I guess it's just the legs that make it look a little weird. I think it's because it doesn't look particularly aerodynamic, but I do like how it has that jet-like shape to it, especially with how that one pair of legs is folded on top of the thorax.

Overall, though, this looks really good and if you don't mind, I'd like to use this as a reference for my Bionicle model, and of course credit will be given. Great job!

Now THAT... Is a comment. I like it!

I was wondering if the jet mode went over well, and it seems I have one yep and one naw. Honestly though, I didn't buy the drill machine 3rd mode Scavenger had, so I figured I couldn't do much worse. Inferno basically had a jet for an ass, so I knew I wanted to make him a jet mode before I even started trying to make a transmetal version. There are limitations for making that happen though, and one of them is what I have on hand, since this was just something for myself. The flame cannons I used seemed like a good option for a lightweight and high tech looking replacement for the drills that could work for the front of a flight mode, boosters or weapons in bot mode, and store away under the ant butt nice and sleek. I wanted to remove the clunky thorax wheels and make him light enough to stand on his legs in ant mode.

When I started adding silver hydrolic sections to the ant legs, I worried that the back legs may end up with a candy cane look since they have a few extended hydrolic sections, but in the overall scheme I was okay with how it looked.

I actually wish I had been more ballsy, and been more original with his color scheme. I really wanted him to feel like Inferno, and to me red and black was just too 'key' in pulling that off, but like you said, Transmetals are usually very different. My way of holding on to the TM vibe was to keep the orange metallic (adding more red fade though), the new guns/boosters, the long creepy 4 digit hands, green hint in the ant eyes, ant leg colors, and I hoped the mold would do the rest.

I'm just glad I get the privilege to comment on something like this. :)

As I said, it's just the wings look a little wonky and there's not much you can do about it, so it's not that much of an issue for me. And the thing is is that for me the vehicle modes don't have to be so vehicle-y, like with Megatron's vehicle mode; I really liked that vehicle mode. Scavenger's looked a bit strange because of the legs, for one, from what I can tell from seeing pictures and watching reviews. And as you said, Inferno was able to fly in his original robot form. I'm glad that you brought that up because that's something I forgot to mention; the jet mode does add to the character because it's a flying mode.

I actually like the contrasting colors of the back legs because it gives it that piston look to it, which does help with the Transmetal aspect you were going for, and I don't think it detracts at all.

Yeah, that's a good point on the color scheme. I was only a kid when the show was on, but I thought the different color schemes were alright, but it really was just too different for my tastes, and that coupled with the darker tone of the second and third season (from what little I saw of it, since the second half of the third season wasn't aired over the air) was a little off-putting. But I do like that you certainly made enough changes to establish this custom as both a Transmetal and as Inferno, and that's one of the things I really liked and why I was compelled to post.

Out of curiousity, what kind of color scheme would you have chosen, after finishing it?

I think I did what I wanted to do with ant mode, but robot mode would have had a different colored torso and inner arms. I haven't thought much about just what colors though.

Always nice to get good marks from a veteran painting master!
    Thanks!

Very sweet job! Love the colours and the mods make it look like a whole new bot! (Well, not really, it's still clearly inferno, but you know what I mean.)

The spaceship mode, you get full points for effort, because there's not much there to work with in terms of a third mode. Is it fantastic? Not really. Is it good? Yes. Better than the original? Definitely.
