    Just found this thread and tried it.. It perches up there even with no mods! Just slip the clear blue plastic between the claw :)

    And here I was starting to not like Thundertron because of the somewhat flaky grasshopper/lion looking alt mode. Now if his head just wasn't so hidden....

    His head placement bothered me too. The flap that his head rests on had 2 pegs in the front that ride 2 grooved arcs up and down. If u take a hobby knife and snip those 2 pegs you can raise his head up higher.

    He's sitting on my shelf right now, but I'm gonna have to open him today and try that out!

    Wow, nice. I'm totally doing this to my Thundertron (once I take him out of the box... I was on the fence about keeping him until I saw this!). I see lots of references to other Thundertron mods, like the head joint and mentions of using straws from other posts... anyone want to point me to those, so I can get all the references and not screw something up? ^_^;

    Just found a Thundertron at a Marshall's... and went straight to trying these small mods.

    Worth noting you need one of those eyeglass screwdrivers to take a few of the screws out. If you have an iGear Kup head kit, that screwdriver is the kind of tiny screwdriver you need.

    Anyway... unmodified you get the perch for Thunderbeak, he just frictions onto the post via the claws. It's not the sturdiest of setups... but for posing it works great.

    The claw left over from the mechtech weapon, and the sword, could use the straws that were suggested to turn into two separate melee weapons. Need to super glue a much smaller post on the narrow end of the claw, in a manner such that you can mount it onto the hand. It *can* be frictioned onto his fist by the "screw" that's sculpted onto the hand... but it's really loose.

    Sword requires an exacto knife, but it's very easy to chip off the teeth bits from the handle.

    Lastly... that light that's left over works great for light piping test shots on Decepticons.

    All in all... the only cutting needed is that of the sword... and 5mm posts need to be added to two items... everything else is left almost unmodded... which is why this is a beautiful, simple, and very clever set of simple mods.

    I bought an eye glass screw driver for the smaller screws and you can find screw driver kits at any hardware store
    Also the kup head add on has a pretty decent screwdriver

    I used a piece from one of the Energon combiners weapon/foot. I will have a separate thread with pics of my Thundertron but I wanted to share this part, now. Again, excellent job figuring out this parrot mod.
