You may as well go ALL out and chrome the bars on the shoulder, vent above the grill, and any other parts that can be such as wipers, window rims, etc...
I know hey Darn you for giving me more tidbits to do, ha ha! You're on to it. I'm already planning on doing the rims, side mirrors, and the front wheel arches, and window edging, but I hadn't thought of the bars on the shoulder. They're sooooo teeny! I'll see if I can wrangle masking tape skills that small...
Alrighty! A little while back I came up with a way to get those wheels off prime's arms, and have them sit behind his back bumper (which is pretty much his bum, so he can do butt slides all over cybertron). You can see this first solution here: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/682446-mini-mp-prime-thingy-jozaeh-wip-10.html But! I knew deep down I wasn't truly satisfied with how it looked. So I spent some (suprisingly long?) time last night and today rigging this new one up. I use bits and pieces of kits for the plastic, thin wire, and some WWII model kit pieces for the little aesthetic springs. It's actually very sturdy despite it's miniatureness too. Now the surprise, to even myself once it was done is, I realised that I could arrange the wheels on Prime's back in not only the way I hoped too, but in THREE other ways?! What the heck?! YES!! Even when he's all finished, i'll still be free to arrange it back and forth. My ultimate aim was to get the wheels and pieces up high enough on Prime's back to actually hide the gaping back crevaces he has in bot mode. They make him look hollow and crap, and wowsers it all reached to cover it up! So here's the four options, with back, side, front, and top photos. I'd love to hear what people's preferences are. (and the prime in the photos is another spare working and testing one, he's in factory colours with some reprolabels. Wheel Option 1: Wheel option 2: Wheel option 3: Wheel option 4: That's all for now! Shoot me any feedback ya feel like! Jozaeh
2 or 3 to me. For some reason, 2 strikes me as a War for Cybertron style look, and 3 looks show-accurate from the front. Not sure which style you prefer, but that's how I think of it.
Precisely my thoughts. I LOVE the shoulder wheel look, but I think I like the MP accuracy even more. Leaning toward 3.
Ah nice! Thanks so much for the feedback everyone! I agree, number 3 wins for the most MP style silhouette. And the other options have little benefits of their own. Thanks again! I wasn't to sure of it at first butchrecon, but I've warmed up to it. Ta. Yeah! That's exactly what made me happy with number 2 as well, I love seeing the wheels there like War for Cybertron Optimus. 3 will probably be it. Thanks. I agree, slim is where it's at. I don't want it to look like he's got airachnid scrunched up on his back. Ha! Yep, it's a keeper for that reason hey. Ta. I know hey! I'm the same. Ah a choice out of left field! Thanks heaps OOSnake! Ha ha! Nice one stprime. And great, 3's the show pony.
Hey St, ahh the pieces are in well, pieces, getting painted, so I'll have to wait until they dry to see if they can become a fold up 1 in 3. I hope so, that's be a nice option. Thanks for those photos too!
I actually rather like option 2 w/ the WFC look. it looks as if w/ option 3 you can flip the wheels around the other way so they face out instead of in to move the swing arm closer to his back. option 4 is a bit chunky but I really like how it hides the original truck front so it's not as obvious that a fake is used in front.
I know hey! I think i'll be using the WFC option half of the time, I do really like the wheels peeking over his shoulders. Having the ability to use option 3 to be more like an MP silhouette without it being stuck with that option is all I wanted. And you're right, option 3's wheels can be flipped the other way to move the swing arm in more, but the wheels don't sit flat and flush (they angle a little as they sit too close to eachother when reverse flipped), good idea hey, i'll check it once it's all back together. Ah good spin on the alt mode truck front hide for option 4, It actually nearly hides it all!
