Ha ha! Ahhh australia ain't too bad for expensivity. Just look at legend figures, $7.99 each is easy spending when you need a new figure fix! But yep, a good quality airbrush and compressor bites the wallet a good chunk. I've started equating prices to how many MP's I could get with the same amount of money, like:

"What?! I could get an MP10 and half an MP thunder cracker for that!"

    or

"oh gosh, that tank of petrol cost me an MP12 sideswipe!"

    Ha ha.

Oh shame, yep if I was on the flip side and some person was showing me their progressively more detailed legends, I'd cry too! Darn. Maybe in the next life you'll be the one doing the repaint and I'll be the teary one. Ha!

Ahhh yes! It's the best thing having a phone with a half decent camera now, AND the net access on the phone as well. It means quick and easy pocket whipout photo snapping in the middle of painting, and then uploading them to the forum all without a computer. Thank you the present with all it's gadgets! (that used to be a future with crazy futuristic gadgets not so long ago, ha ha).

I swear I like looking back on my projects progression myself more than having the actual finished product, so that spurs me on.

    Thanks! I'll keep it up!

Yep, that's the only hitch with collecting a thing that's mostly made of plastic, which is made of oil, which is almost all gone on earth! Not to mention the plastic bubble they come in, and the printed card, amd delivery around the world, i'm surprised that they're not MORE expensive sometimes! I guess that's china's low cost productions that make them cheaper to make. And I don't know if living anywhere else would make them cheaper either, one of forum friends on herr ives in england, and legends megatrons cost him £20!

I guess at least we're not collecting diamonds. Ha!

    Update 11th november 2012

Hey again! So I've been slightly avoiding the problem of working out how to mod some solution to move prime's front wheels. I really want them off his forearms if possible, but I had no idea where they could go?! I couldn't leave them permantlently on his hips because that would block so much of his thigh movement that I've modded in, and his darn waist pivoting back against the inside of the bumper doesn't leave much room at all for any pieces, darn! But I had one more idea.

So here we go! I chopped up some small nails for pins, and a smokestack from my big kre-o prime set, and some small grey single pivot hinge arms, and after 2 hours of dremelling and poking holes and sanding, I came up with this:

And it freak in WORKS!!! Yes!! I'll be tidying it up a little of course, but the main function works. I decided to use the small hole in the lower part of his waist piece as the anchor.

    Lined up.

    Pushed in.

From this position, the hinges enable the wheels and front axle to sit in exactly the position as they did originally.

    Underside view:

Side view with wheel-less arms in place:

Then to simply work the hinges backwards, transform as usual, and the wheels sit back snug against the outside of the bumper. Bango!

    Here's a back view:

    And here's a front view:

So! Can I ask for some opinions please? What do you all think? Should I use this wheel mod at the expense of the bum nibble, or is it better to have the wheel kibble on the forearms?

    Thanks so much!
    Jozaeh

Well, to me, it improves the look of the figure as a whole from the front, which is the most important view, and it really doesn't look too bad from behind. As long as it doesn't impede the leg movement, and it looks like it doesn't, then the back kibble is perfect. It's no worse than some of the others, and more creative.

that looks really good actually. you got those huge wheels off his hands, that's the important part. he does have a big butt, but your slowly turning this thing into a delux class.

Looks very cool! He still needs those yellow things on his chest doing though, I think.

I am not fussed by those wheels at all - I think it still looks great, I wouldn't worry about them :)

I've been trying to think of a good way to get those wheels off of his forearms too and this looks like a pretty good solution. I think it would be hilarious to see some shots of him rolling downhill on his bum wheels though.. haha

Oh gosh, Oh i'm so tempted to do that too! It could be like some of the hasbro packaging when they make it out to have more than two modes, when the extra modes are only slight variants of the bot or vehicle.

I could have "Bot mode, Vehicle mode, and....Chillin'n'Rollin mode! - Optimus prime sometimes likes to take it easy, so to chase down decepticons in a casual style, why change into a full truck when you can kick back and scoot down cyberton hills like tony hawk!"

    Nnnngh. Oh no. Ha ha!

Ah yes OOSnake! Every part in that test shot except for his arms, is another legends optimus prime that I'm using for testing mod fits (my actual legends prime is in pieces still). So you bet i'm gonna be adding in the yellow chest lights! Oh I can't wait to be at that final stage of the mod.

Ah nice Jame5y! Thanks for the feedback, that's good to hear.

Yep, he's got a bit of a ghetto booty now, and his biceps might loose some muscle mass because he's not carrying truck wheels around, ha! But i'm happy with it.

Thanks MegaPrime99, I'm glad it looks good.

I totally get what you mean, I don't tend to look at my firgures from side on, or from the back for more than a spin in the hands when I hold them. So the front matters most and you can barely see them. The wheel arms looked so blearghk from every angle!

And yep, it shouldn't hurt leg movement much at all, so the back kibble is good. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.

Ah thanks Bern! I can't believe how teeny tiny and tweezer needed some of these pieces are, it's crazy. But it's so fun and such a good sense of achievement when it ends up working. Thanks again!
