It's a fair question and no offense taken. I'm glad you asked.
It's all a question of derived value methinks. You might spend $55 on the arms and cannon, but the level of improvement it brings to the figure is high enough that I (as a fan of that figure) can justify it.

But on the flip side, it's my opinion that $40 is not worth spending on that marginal improvement those legs bring, as they don't work well in chopper mode and I can't seem to make them convincing enough in spider mode.

Off the topic of this thread, but I also received the latest sample for the Airachnid legs. I am still debating if I should show them as even though they assemble well (no breakage) and pose well, they don't feel right on the figure at all. Oh well, I think I should at least show some photos of them. Expect something in the next few days.

hmm, it doesnt look too oversized. but i do think it would be nice to maybe make a solid hand. something like how radicons make using the Gen Kup hands. open fist with 5mm peg holes.
that would lower the cost too and would still look nice.

honestly, i would buy it if it was a bit smaller (ill see how the new revised version is) and with a non articulated hand. (im not too big on the articulated hands, as long as they can hold stuff and look decent, im fine)

What material would you recommend then?

I know that wsf is the cheapest but I'm not a fan of the texture

Will these and the Atomic Obliterator Lite work well in the WSF+Polished?

    Hi Ryan,

The lite Obliterator should work alright as I've thickened the pegs slightly to compensate for shrinkage. The forearms, however, might have loose joints due to the polishing process, and I'm not sure if the polishing process will knock some of the fingers off the sprue and you end up with missing fingers.

I can recommend Polish for the cannon, standard WSF for the forearms. Cheers!

    Okay, cool, thanks!
And they're done, right? You're not still making tweaks to them? I think I'm going to order them to replace the DreamMaker forearms, which aren't very good.

Hey now! I've just updated the opening post with pictures of the custom that I commissioned FrenzyRumble to do for me that used a bunch of Shapeways parts I've built. I guess since he is unable to post his photos here, I've decided to do so to share the fruits of this collaboration! Enjoy!

Man those look so fantastic. I wish I were in the same league as that...

Here's a couple shots of my unpainted arms.

So for my final review of them, I like them but have some issues with them. Primarily I really wish Fakebusker had designed them to work on a single pin for the arm. Using only one of them allows the arm to rotate inward and adds some more articulation to the mold. This is definitely a case of hindsight being 20/20 because at the time these were made that mod had not been done (as far as I know). So only using one pin these arms aren't perfect.

In addition I feel they are a little too large. Just slightly. It's not incredibly noticeable but they just seem a LITTLE off. Definitely not enough to make me complain but something I did want to point out.

I also don't love the sword on the left arm. It's too large and can get in the way a little. The same goes for the spike that sticks off the gauntlet.

I did have a break issue literally JUST after taking these pics too. The right thumb of Megatron broke at the ball joint. Luckily Shapeways had sent me a spare hand so I gave Megs a new thumb (which is unpainted and thus a little odd looking).

Another issue I had is I think an issue with the Polished Aliminide. It seems it is fortunate I only wanted to use one of the two pins because it now seems practically impossible to get the arm fully into the socket and thus align the hole for the pin to use. I sanded the post a bit for Breach but he still cannot have a strait armed pose. This issue could also be caused by my painting since I could do this unpainted (I used Tamiya paint, one spray and one brush).

Since I used Polished Aluminide my joints are still very loose. The fingers are decent now but the wrists need to be tightened. Also I should try to tighten the pin joint some how so Megatron can hold his gun up with out having to bend a couple joints.

Over all I'm happy to have these. Fakebusker did a good job on them and I recommend them.

Hey pal, this is so great, will order them one day (busy now) and exactly what I was looking for!
FR does great customs, but these hands-  As you know, I´ve included lots of your stuff in my clips and this makes the clips better.
Go on producing things like that, my friend. But not too much, my wallet aches :rip
