This might not be heavy/scratch but I wouldn't call it minor/repaint either really so... Yeah.
I didn't like the weird mouth on my Maketoys Giant I got yesterday so I went right to work on cutting the sharp lower teeth off and filling the top lip parts so he no longer looks happy at all. I also shaved down the jutting chin some. Then of course I touched up the paint to fix what I messed up.
Its not quite 100% perfect because it was tough getting a blade, sculpting, and sanding tools in that small spot without touching other parts of the face, but I think now he looks a bit more like G1 and maybe more serious.

I love this set so far, though I haven't yet transformed them to individual bots or vehicles. I'll probably end up adding lots of extra detail and realism to them too.

I haven't been following Green Giant (kind of forgot about it after picking up the yellow version), but is this what people are calling the "Derp Face?"

Agreed. I wonder why Maketoys didn't do this when they designed it.

    EDIT:

Can the nose be fixed? His nose looks more like a beak to me. The mouth was pretty bad as it was, but I don't think that that was the only problem with this articulated face.

An amazingly simple and total improvement. Good news that this can be accomplished mostly just by filing down those jagged "toothy" areas. Amazing that Maketoy didn't just do it this way in the first place.

    Looks great! :thumb

    Thanks guys.

Actually I cut the bottom teeth off with an exacto knife, careful to cut them straight and all the way to the back. Then I filled and smoothed out the gaps in the upper lip with sculpt, sanded it as much as I could to make it all smooth, then touched up the paint.

I just got these guys into alt modes, but I can't figure out where the 2 halves of the main combined gun barrel go on the vehicles. Nothing in the instructions either. Anyone know?

These types of mods always make the face look a lot better. I wish this was how it had been actually made.

If memory serves they are shared between the arm guys, one to each of them. They fit on in a very specific way using the tabs/slots in the part of the guns that slide out.

Ah, took me forever to figure out but I got it. Lame way to just put them on there though... The other weapons don't look bad on the alt modes.
