Well, damnit! I have been painting parts and just noticed that they sent me 2 of the same side grille pieces for HL...

EDIT: Just noticed they also sent me 2 of the right side of the Wing Extensions and none of the left...

This sucks...Shapeways is going to an email from me. How can I have happy customers if they don't keep up their end of the deal? I'm pissed off. Sorry to hear about this Mirage. Tell me how responsive they are with replacement parts...I really hope this is either growing pains or 'cause it was the holidays.

Really glad your order is ok. 1 out 5 recent orders for you guys didnt have an issue. :(

All that aside guys, hope you're enjoying them and really looking forward to the painted results!!!

Just a quick question to those who have ordered the stainless steel hip replacement parts.

Are you using them on the original HL hip or are you using them on the 'replacement' greased up hip TFC issued? I did the D ring mod on my original hip so still have the TFC issued replacement and would like to keep that as a backup.

And echo can you now use the SS hip parts without grinding them? I don't own a dremel... :(

You can use it on the original or the Fixed one. It's easier to do it on the fixed one if you're replacing the D rings anyway. Unless you have already taken the screw caps from the original set. As for grinding, you can just use a file. The rotary tool can be purchased at Walmart or other retailers for less than $20. Also for the Metal parts, I have to widen the holes.

Thanks Steve! I emailed them, hopefully, I will hear from them tomorrow or Tuesday? I'm assuming that they will send me the correct pieces? Has anyone gotten any duplicates from SW before? Did they send you the correct parts, if you did?

Also, I had to do some serious cutting on one of the new leg extensions... The bottom piece wouldn't fit into the top piece at all, it was at least 1/8" off. I had to shave all that off the bottom piece, so it would fit... It was still a tight fit and needed more shaven off, but there wasn't any left to shave... It got to a point where I couldn't push it any further and couldn't take it back off, so I just clamped it with some channel locks! It looks ok, although there's a small gap where I did the shaving... Should look ok once I paint it. I'll keep everyone informed!

^^ Thanks for the update. Something doesn't sound right tho...a little off here and there makes sense, but 1/8th? Did you by any chance mix left with right? And chance you can take a picture for me?

For everyone else, I sent Shapeways a 'firm but fair' message...interested to see how they reply, I'll keep you posted.

    Thanx,

    Echo

Ah thanks for letting me know man.

Yeah I already took the screw caps off the original hip (managed to do it without destroying them).

Hehe I'm from Australia bud. No Walmarts here and Dremels are over $100 here due to import taxes :(

Nope, I didn't mix left with right, as they have some sort of detail only on one side, that the bottom matches with the top. Yea, I'll take a pic and post it soon.

Same here and it's on the Herc's left leg. I haven't clamped it fully. I'll take a pic later.

Check some stores. It doesn't have to be a dremel, just a rotary tool.

Echo: I must have forgotten about it, but did you ever make the crane lock available?

BTW, did any of you get the two right sides for the below? If so, maybe we can just swap. I have both left parts.

Here are the pics of the right thigh extension

    Before modding:

The holes or pegs are a bit off by a small margin

    [IMG][IMG]

I had to shave the pegs and the holes a bit. Not perfect, but works.

Just the parts that plug in on Herc's left side. No issues with the wing extensions.

The parts that I got are posted here: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radic...cules-rage-upgrade-elbows-56.html#post8818968

Hey guys, thanks for the pictures. Daimchoc: your leg appears to be a tolerance issue. Mine needed some clamping too...but I didn't have to mod, so yours must be way out of spec like many recent parts.

Mirage, it's really hard to tell what happened with yours. For both you guys I checked my CAD carefully this morning and everything is ok...it's really hard to tell why this is happening.

I have contacted Shapeways and they will investigate, but they said each customer will need to contact them to get things rolling. Can everyone with an issue please contact them?

The crane lock IS part of the kit. It's hidden tho...underneath the crane mount between the forks. I put it in there to help save $50 on the kit. It should be connected with a sprue...can you have a look?

Dude, I just saw your PM and I replied to it. I'll send you my copy.

NP. I've already contacted SW and have already received a response from them this morning They are currently investigating. I'll check the crane lock in a few.

    ^^ Great...thanks so much, Daimchoc.

Here's a pic of where the crane lock is located...again, it's pretty hidden.

    EDIT:

Also...been thinking about this alot...although the front cab and wing extensions meet the minimum requirements, this is a HUGE kit with so many parts, so I decided to sprue them together to reduce the likelihood of being lost in production. Might as well make it as easy as possible for Shapeways, right?

    Have a look:

I know this doesn't help you guys...but I had no idea these orders would get screwed up because they handled it just fine before...but hindsight is 20/20, so here's a fix for all future buyers of the kit...
