Redundant, because it involved getting an iGear Rager to recast the head from. >_> But I have to say, even if it's a little small, I think it works pretty well. I'm considering attaching the front of the Rager head to the back of the PCC Huffer head, as that's a bit wider, but I'm not sure I really need to. I think with some blue/violet paint, he'll look pretty good as-is! Shame that his hands don't take 5mm pegs, and that I broke off his right thumb trying to drill them out :/ Might look at replacing them with something else, but for now he can hold a gun left-handed.
Very interesting. Now since you have a classics huffer in the works would you be willing to sell said iGear Rager?? LOL. Once agian, interesting idea, hope it turns out well.
I know it's probably too late for this... but to whomever made the cast... might be quite useful. HydroSpan 100 Enlarging Polymer - YouTube Hydrospan polymer makes enlarging casts by 60% per application. No doubt if one could recast the Rager head and enlarge it by that much, that'd it'd be *perfect* for PCC Huffer.
Actually I've still got the mould, so it's no big deal to try and recast again in a new material. The problem is that, as I live in the UK, it tends to be prohibitively expensive to pick up "exotic" casting resins, usually due to shipping. There's been more than one occasion when a 60% enlarged cast of something would have been handy though. And if I like my custom more than Rager, he might be on the chopping block, but I only got the poor guy on Saturday
LOL, I was just kidding bro, I know how hard he is to come by nowadays. Enjoy him, and can't wait to see the finished product of this guy.
Hmm, okay. Made a push-mould, and now he's double the Huffer! Kinda. The face is slightly... fatter than the original, due to the nature of the push-mould, and it's taken away a lot of his... Huffer-ishness. I'm wondering how much paint will help that, though. Size comparison with Rager, Classics Bee (or Yellow Cliffjumper), and Cyberverse Commander Ironhide.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but can you offer some information about the difference between a "push-mould" and the other method you used?
I was doing this but put the project on hold for some other customs and then iGear Rager came out so I just bought that. I used a Cybertron Swerve head (I think it was Swerve, really hated the trilogy line). The unpainted hood was from an oversized KO Huffer.
@Gargunkle - A push-mould or press-mould is where you have a mould that's designed to just have putty pressed into it, it's typically one-sided but two-sided ones are possible too. It's usually made from silicone putty, but if you're careful you can use a slightly flexible epoxy like green stuff/kneadatite. I am currently using a reusable Japanese thermal putty called Oyumaru. By contrast, the other cast was just made from regular silicone RTV and resin @Mr.Deflok Yeah, pretty much what I was going for. I want the hood at the back to be a normal part of his truck mode though, so I'll be trying to mod the original parts. Rager is just TOO small compared to Classics Bee for me.
