Well, thats cool. Nice skills. Been wanting to do similiar but I think i'll repaint the retail ones to match the original g1 deco since it would be affordable and also because the sdcc one was impossible for me to get . Had I gotten the sdcc one I would have kept in in package forever since painting it would probably diminish the value of it.

I don't think it's a landslide decision. I'm with Cheets here.
As a painter, you're MUCH better off with optimal colored hinges/pegs/ball joints, things you'll only get with the SDCC. Painting red/yellow/etc colored plastc on high friction areas... just isn't gonna work, nor worth the time of swapping with properly colored ones. I believe the price was $108 for the SDCC, which comes with an awesome box, or you can (try to) hunt down all 5, then pay ~ $80 ($15 + tax/each?). Well worth the $28 difference...

great job on these. I have been having too much fun with my set.

Thanks, FR, and everyone else. I had fun getting these guys looking good. I do have two sets. One to paint and one to keep normal. I plan on picking up the retail releases as well as I have some repaints in mind.

Also FR is right, it's better to keep similar colors so the unpaintable parts don't look so outta whack.
