19 days ago, I posted this thread (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/creat...her-2007-movie-ironhides-left-arm-cannon.html) to see if I could find a spring-loaded missile launcher long and narrow enough to fit inside the left arm cannon of the 2007 Movie Voyager class Ironhide mold.

After carefully searching and examining all of the removable, spring-loaded weapons from all of the Autobot and Decepticon action figures in my collection, the one that I was looking for was the gatling gun/missile launcher and missile from my RotF Leader class Jetfire. :thumbs2:
    [IMG][IMG]

    HERE'S HOW I DID IT:

    STEP 1 - Before coloration:

    01) The plastic from the top and bottom of the "disk" that had the gatling guns muzzles was cut/sanded/shaved/polished off.

    02) Using the missile to guide the "+" into perfect alignment with the trigger, I glued the "disk" onto the weapon with Gorilla Super Glue.

    03) In order the evenly level the modified gatling gun/missile launcher from my RotF Leader class Jetfire with the hollowed-out left arm cannon from 2007 Movie Voyager class Ironhide, the bottom of the clip for the gatling gun/missile launcher was sanded/shaved down and a drill-hole for the screw that would keep the launcher in place was made through the sanded/shaved down clip. It was then glued onto the weapon using Gorilla Super Glue and a drill-hole was made into the weapon itself through the sanded/shaved and glued down clip for the screw.

    04) Cut offed the top & bottom and gouged the inside plastic from front to rear in order to hollow out the left arm cannon from 2007 Movie Voyager class Ironhide.

    03) Removed the clip on the rear that held the right arm cannon to the left one, cut/sanded/shaved/polished off the most of the surrounding area and the inside...
to make room for the missile launcher's trigger.

    04) A retangular "ditch" was carved out to accommodate the sanded/shaved and glued down clip.

    05) A hole was made on the hollowed-out left arm cannon from 2007 Movie Voyager class Ironhide for the black screw that would hold the modified gatling gun/missile launcher from my RotF Leader class Jetfire in place.

    06) A Black LEGO 2x2 Round Brick...
and Black LEGO 2x2 Round Plate with New Style X Opening...
were carved, hollowed and glued together to make the muzzle that would "center" the front of the modified gatling gun/missile launcher from my RotF Leader class Jetfire.

    07) With these modifications in place, the modified gatling gun/missile launcher from my RotF Leader class Jetfire could now be inserted into the hollowed-out left arm cannon from 2007 Movie Voyager class Ironhide...
and the black screw put on to hold the gatling gun/missile launcher in place.

    08) The muzzle will be glue on so that the "holes" will align with the "+"...
    like this:

    09) The rear plastic of the hollowed-out left arm cannon from 2007 Movie Voyager class Ironhide gatling gun/missile launcher was cut/sanded/shaved/polished in order line it up with the rear of the modified gatling gun/missile launcher from my RotF Leader class Jetfire.

Now, all parts and modifications have resulted in a weapon that is fully functional! :thumbs2:

    TIME TO COLOR IT!!!

    STEP 2 - After coloration:

    01) After submerging the hollowed-out left arm cannon from 2007 Movie Voyager class Ironhide in a glass jar containing a mixture of 1 RIT Black Power Dye, 200 ml water, and 1/3 cups acetone for two 10 minute periods, it came out completely recolored in black and still looked polished.

    02) The missile from my RotF Leader class Jetfire was also modified. Shortened so that its "fins" would be more on top of the muzzle.

    03) After carving out the notches that would hold the trigger to keep the missile in place, I feared that the plastic "rod" was too weak so I replaced it with an equally-sized carbon fiber rod.

    04) Using a toothpick, I applied Gorilla Super Glue to the area inside the hollowed-out left arm cannon from 2007 Movie Voyager class Ironhide where the muzzle would rest correctly on the top of modified gatling gun/missile launcher from my RotF Leader class Jetfire. After that, the gun/missile launcher was removed and the muzzle's "holes" were carved out to create this final look:

The final end result is a new left arm cannon for the 2007 Movie Voyager class Ironhide mold that is fully independent and functional in his alternate and robot modes. :thumbs2:

No more detaching the right arm cannon and combining it with the left one in order to create a huge functional missile launcher that relies on a pressure-launch system to fire the missiles from the four barrels. :thumbs2:
