Update 8/1/12 Did a color test paint job on the IDW version, tried to stick close to the art, had to make some creative decisions, especially on the head, thoughts? Update 7/30/12 IDW Variant Well I won't say I recreated the design perfectly, but I think I captured its spirit, and while I still prefer the G1 version, I have to admit, it looks pretty cool ![]() Check out my marketplace thread for ordering details. Update 7/29/12 All right gang, G1-Style Kit is up on Shapeways (or from me )![]() Destrongerlupus's Robot Shop No-wheels IDW version coming soon. Update 7/28/12 Some refinements to the model, including a whole new neck assembly. Also, printed in color ABS, which I think makes a big difference. I'm working on a no-wheels variant too, but once I get the neck assembly finialized and make a few more tweaks, I think I'll be able to make this kit available for sale ![]() This was one of the first projects I started working on when I got into 3D designing. The Prime Ratchet mold is just such a nice figure, and really a good fit for the pacifist Protectabot. MAJOR thanks to Wheeljack, who really was a huge help on this project! Anyway, still a few adjustments to be made, but I'm pleased with this test run! Considering an alternate transformation or maybe some extra parts to make this happen, to give him his G1 Ambulance-boots, not sure if it's worth the effort or not, what do you all think? I do like the legs mis-transformed,it takes away the round-ness of the prime mold. |

Yeah, I'm thinking even without extra parts, if I just snip his kneecaps I can get the knees to bend the right way with the leg swap. Pretty sure it will have to be swapped back for transformation...but how often do we transform these guys anyway ![]() D/L ![]() My Custom Feedback Thread | |

Give folks the choice of higher-res detail, or ABS parts at an affordable price (I won't charge very much for my own prints) Also planning on printing the parts right in red, which will make them easy to work with. Quote:

Nice! I think I like the "regular" transformation rather than the "alternate" version, though I'd consider snipping his kneepads anyway, since they contribute quite a bit too the pointy, rounded "Prime" look. But just changing up the chest like that already makes quite a difference. He really looks like a proper G1-style First Aid! zmog image size: 500px x 275px, 18.78kb... always has been "Why is bad taste ubiquitous?" - Erik Spiekermann |
