    WOOT!!

Thanks DL! I'm quite content, now if hotspot would hurry up and arrive!
Sorry for crappy Cell phone pics, but I'm busy cleaning up my house. :)

The head started out in Sketchup, but I don't really use that any more, I mostly model in Wings, I do Booleans in Blender, and use Netfabb for clean up.

Nice buddy, "Woot" is about the best review I could hope for! :thumb

Kinda cool seeing him next to a stock Ratchet, even with them being 90% the same, even side by side they really feel like different dudes.

I like the detailing you did on Ratchet too, looks very nice!

Actually I didn't do that detailing on ratchet. I bought him off ebay from project 9 customs.. :)

But I feel they look drastically different with your kit! I really enjoy it for a nice home made garage kit deal! Thanks for the effort you put into it! I can't wait for hotspot to arrive, and feel compelled to break out the airbrush to fill the team! :)

I love the Scramble guys, I want to do them justice!

Well you have good taste in customs then ;)

Seriously though, can't wait to see what you come up with :)

Thanks! I went through a lot of versions before I found a design that worked well with Ratchet's "guts" and still provided a G1 look and decent head articulation.

And as a more general update-

Fix-It/Pipo is nearly done, and then I'm moving on to Blades, durn it!

I am 90% sure that I can find a KO of this guy:
    Double Face (2004) - Destron Double Spy - www.tfu.info

And I have made a custom from him before, so I think I can succeed if I did that again for groove.
All I need is streetwise.. :)

That's a great mold (I have several versions of him), and well suited to Groove.

I'm going in a slightly larger direction in hope of being able to squeeze a combination mode out of the gang...scale be darned ;)

Hopefully I can seduce you with my Streetwise kit before you figure out your own solution :lol

I can be seduced with any kit regardless of making my own. ;)

Cool. I'm in the process of doing something silmilar to turn Ratchet's chest into Brawn's with a Cyclonus head.

It's a great and versatile mold! if I wasn't getting a hench, I would have taken a whack at Brawn. Can't wait to see how yours comes out!

I was shocked to see that news item this morning.

They do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

Of course, they don't have a Fixit kit. Mine should be at Shapeways printers right about now...

Immediate gratification, variety, and long-term availability are the spice of life I say ;)

Please let me know how it turns out via Shapeways, I had to disable the "polished" materials, which I was disappointed about. I'm very curious as well to see how the new neck assembly works in their materials.

So what's the group thought, does the new Hasbro Protectabot giftset pairing warrant revisiting this concept as a whole? I don't love all the mold choices...but since they're now officially representing the G1 gang, I could look into upgrading the rest of the team.

In any event I'll get high-res versions of First Aid available for sale...I definitely want to do one on the new version of the mold as Safety.

    Thoughts?

I'd wait and see. With these new repaint sets, Hasbro has just put a pin in the Protectobots' names. I would not be surprised in the slightest to see new Protectobots turn up next year in the Combiner Wars line... with new combining molds.
