FINAL UPDATE POST 31! Here is the final design for my Shapeway Soundwave Tentacles. They are made from segment and are fully flexible and poseable. When completely straight they are right at 6" long. Let me know what you think. Thanks for your looking. Edit: shop added for those interested. Shapeways | Bennington Bots by zoso1900
VERY nicely done. These "print and it works" designs always amaze me. I tried a chain recently with some luck, but this is just fabulous!!!
Being somewhat new to Shapeways myself I'm not sure which material would be the best. For myself I went with the standard White, Strong & Flexible. I printed some things in the past using the WSF Polished and Shapeways had problems with the parts being too small. Not sure if that would happen with the segments being smaller. If you do order using Polished please let me know how it turns out. I am planning on painting mine also, just need to grab some paints.
That's a GREAT model. Perfect way to start your career on there. Any plans for future projects (maybe better weapons for PRID Bulkhead or Megatron)?
Wow these are amazing! Ill have to order these in my next shapeways haul. Next you should make replacement robot arms and spider legs for arachnid.
Damn, may have to get a set for movie Soundwave, can't find the damn thing or I would look to see if there is a good spot to peg them in. Edit, just looked at some pictures of DOTM Soundwave and though it may be a little off center, these may peg into the mechtech port that ends up on his back in bot mode.
Those look awesome! I have been thinking about getting some stuff from Shapeways but this may have just convinced me to actually do it.
I would like to thank everyone for your comments. I picked up some paints today so I will update again after giving that a try. Thanks, I am thinking trying to figure out something for Bulkhead. Megatron did cross my mind but now you have me thinking. Thanks. I agree, Arachnid needs some help from the reviews I have seen. That could be an interesting project to work on. The idea of added them to DOTM Soundwave never crossed my mind. I have yet to get one but if I do come across one I will adjust to fit on his back.
I'm surprised this doesn't have more comments. This looks like it would be pretty popular with Prime/Soundwave fans. I ordered mine yesterday. If you cold come up with some nice spider legs for Airachnid, I would be all over that too.
nice work. speaking of work, this pic kills me hehe : though, it would be fun to put together. love projects like this. I am thinking of purchasing this kit for the many ball joints!
