Maybe another figure could be used, or arms could be scratch-built/Shapeways?

Part of the reason I used FE Arcee is because it can be easily found at retail here, and currently on sales

I do own airachnid and have taken her apart so I understand how the sliding mechanism for the head work, but I'm sure you could still carve out some of this plastic so the arms could fold in more,

Yes, you guys are totally right about the arms being too long, I will try to reduce the length of both upper and lower arms.
And other than the reason mentioned above, FE Arcee comes readily with double joint at the elbow, IMO making it easier to conceal in alternate mode.

Looks like she's holding her boobs up in alt mode. I don't have the figure so I don't know why she needed new arms.

To bad i would I would have to Amputate a perfectly good FE Arcee's arms to make her look decent.... Major fail hasbro.

You blame Hasbro, but the folks at Takara typically handle the engineering.

While the folks at Hasbro may have requested things like the opening cockpit, it's really not the engineering team's best effort in realizing the final design.

Airachnid does come with ball joint shoulders.
However for this mod I added another pair of joints for the arms.

TCracker's mod on Airachnid uses RID Arcee's arms, check it out, it is an awesome piece!

I really like what you've done so far. Two things, I think if you reduced just the upper arm length, cut and reattached, it would solve the length, even though really, I think compared with a LOT of the other Prime figures (Wheeljack, Soundwave), long arms are NOT uncommon for the regular figures, so what if she has long arms, shes a freaking spider.

Second, two ways to go for the panels. Either use modded RID Arcee's wings, or custom build from styrene. The latter actually would look smoother.

Also, if FE Cliffjumpers are plentiful, you wouldn't happen to have a spare left leg? I have a FE Cliffy that's in dire need of a replacement leg courtesy of Hasbro's QC. PM me.
