I thought this was awesome when I saw it in the customs contest photo gallery. I was shocked when that lego prime beat both this and that Galvatron. First place should have gone to one of you two. You guys were seriously screwed.

after seeing a plushie win the other year, i'm not surprised, great work though, i love it, the base mode is spot on, and he looks imposing, something the g1 figure never could do

You should have won. That Lego Optimus Prime, while nice, wasn't really a custom figure. There was no "figure" to it. It was made from bricks.
