First of all, just wanna say that process's shapeways G1-esque Fusion Cannon rocks! Anyway.. Without further ado, here's the current progress.. I carved off the plastic bits and detached the entire back kibble. But I wasn't careful enough, and thus resulted in minor melting accident on rear side of Meg's left thigh, as evidenced on picture above. Thank goodness the heatcutter didn't even melt the black joint part within it, or it's all over for me, and this one ends up a failed custom. And I reminded of IDW's AHM Megatron, especially his back kibble, and thinking of putting his trigger back on his..... back. Yeah. :| Therefore I cut & detach the wings, and also the pin, from the trigger kibble. Here's the result. Not too smooth, and leave quite a mark there during my attempt to cut off the pin-holding plastic bits.. Anyhow, just waiting for my paints to arrive, so I can start painting his fusion cannon. Regards, Caine.
ya know what I have never had a problem with the bright colours of the US and Au relies of Megs and actually really like it and never really cared for this mold in G1 colours.........till now! those mods and that cannon are FRIGGEN AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am really interested in that cannon!!! I have allready check shapeways web, it rocks!!! Really good job with this Megatron, I am working in one similar. I will look forward to your job, mate
I know Shapeways has been trying to improve their black WSF, but it usually comes out kind of purpley. Besides, I recommend WSF+polished, which I believe Caine purchased his in.
Actually that might be the trick of the camera. The real stuff isn't all that glossy, still have that grainy feel over its surface, after many layers of clear coating to smooth it up.. :| So far? It's finished..
