Hey I ordered a set of just the smokestacks and was wondering if anyone could recommend what color of paint I should use to paint them with. Thanks.

 

You can't go wrong with chrome silver.

 

Okay thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to see if I have that in my paints though I should as I have every silver type paint color.

 

By the way which type of paint is better to use acrylic or enamel? I'm also wondering if I ordered these in the right type of material. I ordered them using WSF material.

 

Acrylics are what I use. Can't say anything about enamel. WSF will be a porous material when painted up. For examples find Fakebuskers Scaplets. I have a lot of them in WSF painted in chrome silver. Your smoke stacks would look basically the same.

Hey I checked my paint colors I have and I don't have a chrome silver. What paint brand do you use that has chrome silver in it? I've been using Testors but I looked on their website and they don't seem to carry a chrome silver unless they just don't list it.

 

Is there any way i could get these in gold to mach the Japanese special black Optimus?

Rotating blades

I ordered the rotating blades version in FUD. I had a bit of trouble with the driver's side smokestack (it broke where it connects to the tab on Prime's door for vehicle mode), but fakebusker replaced the damaged piece at no extra cost!   The problem, it turns out, was Prime; the tab had too thick a coat of red paint, so I ended up just filing most of it away. It no longer holds anything together tightly; the smokestack just sort of sits over the tab, but it looks fine, so I'm happy.

I did not sand anything before painting; I merely washed the pieces and scraped some of the plastic off the tabholes of the smokestacks. The paint didn't take very well until the third layer or so, but two coats of sealant finished it off quite nicely. Overall, I was very pleased with my first experience with FUD. Everything looks crisp and blends in well with the rest of the figure. The smokestacks in particular are hardly recognizable as printed.

As for little "Munchy," I just need to get his eyes painted. I'm not sure if I have the right shade of purple, though.

 

I know this might be resurrecting an old thread, but would you consider parting this out to just doing the smoke stacks? I just made an order, but if I could just get the smoke stacks I'd gladly make another!
