The simplest answer is that I'm color blind, have a limited amount of paint, and was going for this:

I'm open to changes to make it look more accurate, I just went with what I had.

Edit: I toned it down a bit. I got rid of the yellow and silver Sharpied over the silver paint to make it match the figure's silver/gray more. I'll paint the end prongs the same color as his hands.

Inputs?

I ordered this set in Black Strong Flexible, because I intended it for Arms Micron Skywarp. I probably should have tried to clean the pieces off a little more, but they ended up much smother than I expected, once I'd added the purple paint and a few layers of clear coat. They still look pretty grainy in pictures, but in person it's far less noticeable.

The paint I used was a $3 purple paint marker from Walmart, and a corresponding black one to fix my mistakes, and then a spray on Krylon (I believe) plastic-safe clear coat, also from Walmart. The purple looks like a very close match in person, though the difference is more apparent on camera.

The only problem with getting this set for Skywarp, is that none of the weapons can be used in jet-mode, as Skywarp doesn't have the same mount piece on the wing that Starscream does. It's kinda disappointing, because I ordered the left handed blaster too, because I wanted to have them balanced in jet mode, and I cannot get the drop pods, or whatever they are, off the wings. But he could dual wield them in bot mode, and I think they look great in bot mode, though I haven't installed the head crest or knee bits yet.

I'm thinking this kit wouldn't work in polished, the head crest would be lost forever, or polished away to nothing, and I'd also fear for the tips of the blaster. But I don't know.
