HAd to try to get something better... Pics were taken with my EVO...so if they arent good enough Holla and Ill break out the Nikon.. Hood/suspenders part: as you try to fold it over, look, you will see some squard platsic reinforcement stopping it. Just get some clippers or exacto and trim it. WONT change TFmation. Its still tight on the back of his head, but easily swings down. You will see the part but the hinges I trimmed. If I DINT trim those it was stressing the hinges WAY too much for my taste By tadave79 at 2011-08-19 Then cram the slider as far forward you can get, and push the door hinges up to hold it. What I have now, is about as good a mix beteen accuracy, playability, and ease of modification that makes me happy enough to get back on the side of leadfoot HA By tadave79 at 2011-08-19 By tadave79 at 2011-08-19 By tadave79 at 2011-08-19 By tadave79 at 2011-08-19
Have you transformed it back to car mode yet? This is a great idea and I'm very tempted to do the same. But I did notice those tabs you cut off lock the shoulders in place in car mode. There may be enough other pieces locking this together that it doesn't matter (which would be great!). Have you tried? Any issues with the front of the car not going/staying where it should? I really, really like this! I might do it even if it does cause car issues.
you might not have to cut it. more of us tried this in the HA Leadfoot feedback thread and the fold over can work without cutting. I can on mine and had no problem doing so with no cutting. it does looks good but i just chose to pose my different.
Just did it. I haven't transformed him back to car yet (not sure when I will- the car does very little for me). I've just gone from mild buyers remorse to being really impressed! That combined with the slight alternate transformation (and laserbeaks weapons) has made him into a much, much cooler transformer.
Hear hear! Nice work. I did that one too. I've made a few other little mods to some of the kibble parts on this guy to let them be posed better. I'm putting together a post, feel free to hassle me until it's up.
Yep...no real issues. Works fine in car mode. Another nice mod is the front wheel wells. There is a grey hinge with a square on the rotator to stop it from foling more to allow it to tuck in CLOSER to the body. This is a real easy shave and when you look youll see. Same here. I went from complete buyers remorse, this thing is not worth a pinch of rat shit, to LOVING the mold. I WILL say....I could NOT have made that transition without straying from the instructions, and making a few mods. I know some say they can do that flip without mods. SOme like me, just could not, and the more I tried to flip the double hinge up over the whidshield, I was getting REAL bad stressing, so I just did the cut.
I got mild stress marks as well and wasn't even close to getting it into place. Also, after I used the clippers/knife, I broke out the dremel and removed the little c shape letting it sit just a little bit lower (that you can't do without modding it). Now all he (and Roadbuster) need is some paint to make their robot bits look less plasticy. Not sure when I'll get to that, but I will. It'll help a lot. Thanks again for the idea.
Yea, I tried to simply fold the hood down, but I got a stress mark as the red hood bent around the grey lever on the back of LF's head... Some fans have carved a notch in the head as well as trimming the two red nubs on the bottom of the hood... I did both mods and he looks much better! I also did the front wheel torso trim, too. Hes better. But far from perfect. Now what to do about those aweful hands... Hmmm...
