With a bit of inspiration from encline to pick up my airbrush again from talking to him at BotCon 2011, I decided to give it another shot with this Transformers Animated Chromia.

Using the KO CHMS figure as a base, I took her apart and repainted her to match the art that Derrick J. Wyatt had shared. This time around I had a much easier time painting the figure, most likely due to patience and better paint.

These pics are also up on my Flickr account as well: http://www.flickr.com/photos/floatingcat/

It's great but seeing these pics reminds me of how animated was let down with the constant re-paints and it's eventual cancellation

That is a *gorgeous* colour scheme, fantastic job. How does the plastic on the KO compare to the original release?

The paint is really smooth, is it all airbrushed or did you hand paint any of it as well?

I'm glad that some folks seem to dig her. Hopefully I'll do more after a bit of a break. I certainly have extra figures/projects/ideas lined up.

That minty green one is the other CHMS KO, named Medic. The paint scheme in robot mode is too to terrible to put alongside the other figures just yet (see the Flickr pics). I do plan on redoing her after a break as either Moonracer or Firestar.

Thanks for the compliments. I really like the blue. As far as the plastic is concerned, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. The joints a still a bit loose, and her hip pieces are molded a bit too large. Everything else is hardly noticeable however, but the original paint jobs are pretty bad.

She's 99% airbrushed with Model Master paints. Detail work like her face, feet, and waist are hand painted. As a result those bits are a slightly chunky/sloppy compared to the smooth airbrushed pieces.
