COMPLETED: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radic...indcharger-reshell-completed.html#post6209433 Due to circumstance I could've still owned a Volkwagen Corrado G60... I had this car for 7or8yrs but then my physical condition got haywire So I sold it for 30% of what it was worth since I had huge bills to pay etc. A few months ago I found a box with 3 Corrado Revell 1:24 kits (which I had build 10yrs ago myself but completely forgot about) I tried to sell them... got many request / offers... yada yada yada... (all folks who thought they could let me wait or didn't held their part of the deal) So today I actually thought of Finishing my BatMobile reshell, but I'm having major problems with that one... I nearly removed the shell and wanted to discard the robot leftovers.. I then saw I got a broken Cybertron car and had used some part to swap with Cyb.Excellion and turn him into Rodimus Well we now covered the boring parts I started today around 11:00 and finished 21:00 Working on and of since I need to rest a lot! I've learned a lot today and will use that knowledge on the next reshell This character will be named GFORCE... not decided on the color yet... easiest would obviously red and the give it even more homage to my nickname, I'll maybe put on racing numbers 60 Enjoy C&C welcome! UPDATE1: Pretty big update.. did some minor cleaning up! then decided to cut a little more away from the side of the front bumper and fender and finally it was enough to give me all the range of motion I needed (small sacrifice if you ask me) then chansformers talked about the engine and then it struck me... I had to make something out of the leftover pieces. thus the engine/muffler/compressor-gun was born thew swapped a head.. all that is left now is finding a use for the backpiece (was thinking of a shield + blade) UPDATE2: It's ready for paint and due to a perfect recommendation this is now known as Windcharger UPDATE2B: Paint is drying.. all that is left tomorrow is deciding on blue or black colored window or leave it like this but see the ugly hot glue.... remember this is actually a testversion on which I wanted to see if I could do this by only use a dremel,I've learned my lesson a scalpel and a jewlersaw need to be purchased BTW you will never believe it, but nearly threw away the original G60 wheels, but found out they can be taken apart... Guess what??? the outer ring / rim fitted inside the wheels without taking them of and thus eliminating visible screws UPDATE3: Well ... let the pics do the talking Not bad for a first try Still need to do the windows make exhaust pipes, do touchups! Also it's hard to decide... classics deluxe, alternator or masterpiece Windcharger? (I prolly gonna use it for classics, botmode wise look good for Alt's and alt-mode seems in good scale with MP-01/04)
The back is a little scary, but he still looks good in robot mode, and the car shell came togteher nice and clean. This should look great when painted up!
that is really great man; I had a VR6 before I appreciated what you did here.. just do small clean up on some areas. great reshell project
yeah the mold I've use isn't really giving me other options thnx man! Yeah I hope the cleaning op will work but I doubt it... since I cut the windshield to far I now had to use hotglue (as you can see) I don't know if I'm keeping it or selling it, but one thing is for sure I have less hardtime looking at a transformer than reminding my of the car I had been forced to sell thanks man that mean a lot!
well I do have space in the passenger or cabin whatever it's called and with the tip I got to paint the windows, it could stay out of sight most of the time. (now of to find the engine )
You certainly chose an easy mold to reshell, in fact, that's actually a great idea (my first was a commando droid, trust me, that's not easy nor fun ). The Hot Shot mold is one of the few AEC molds to actually be acceptable, imo. I agree with the others that the back is...um...scary? Kibble-tastic? A tribute to Rhinox/Break? It's a great project, clean it up and it'll look awesome!
Lookin really cool so far amigo! Gotta give ya credit, your way Ballsier than I am, I still haven't tried my hand at a full-on re-shell!!
Well it is easy but certainly doesn't let the carmode be 100% accurate Backkibble is going to be worked on THNX MAN!! coming from the man with the biggest sculptskillz on the planet thnx Well then this next update you will like, cuz it's almost ready UPDATE1: Pretty big update.. did some minor cleaning up! then decided to cut a little more away from the side of the front bumper and fender and finally it was enough to give me all the range of motion I needed (small sacrifice if you ask me) then chansformers talked about the engine and then it struck me... I had to make something out of the leftover pieces. thus the engine/muffler/compressor-gun was born thew swapped a head.. all that is left now is finding a use for the backpiece (was thinking of a shield + blade)
A Rado which turns into a 'Bot. Perfection. But I'm a biased Dub whore. :-D Sweet mate. I had thoughts on this, a reshell using a Rado kit. Seán
Dude, you better make this good. Your working with my 2 things I like the most. VWs and Transformers. Especially the old A2 Vdubs.
Generally speaking, things are looking good. A few things that really concern me: The cuts. Especially on the hood, I'm unsure if things will line up properly without a lot of gaps. This is one of the main things (and difficult things) to do when making a reshell. The overrun of glue on the translucent parts. Unless your plan is to completely paint over the windshields (where you'd be sanding the glue down), this is a point of concern as well. I think once you address these issues, you'll be good to go.
You did a great job G60Force. You made lemonade from lemons and it turned out really well. If you can find a head that looks like Windcharger and paint the inner cuts on the hood red it would be a great addition to the classics generations line.
I have 2 more kits and since they didn't sell daddy is gonna try 2more before attempting other VW's THNX! Hheheheh I'll do my utmost best! Yeah I've use a dremel for all the cuts and the vertical cut on the hood was my first try! It sucked so does the rest... on my 2nd Corrado I will use a scalpel (if I can buy one) I already leveled the glue on the windshield better and yes they will be painted, blue I think will work best but black could also work Yeah I was amazed by it myself hehe Hmmmm... I actually had plans for making more VW cars... a Ironhide and Ratchet from a VW Van, a Golf1 for Gears, Golf 2or3 for Brawn, VW Beetle for Glyph... but I hadn't though off Windcharger!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
