But whatever.. here 2 member so far... -------------------- BIG DADDY: -cut off standard engine, replace by Rid Sideburn's -remove the default wheels and swapped with Rid Brawn's -used rubbing alcohol to get rid of some paint apps -cut/trimmed the front to fit the headlight from old camaro Movie BB -added missile tips onto the frontbumper to resemble a lttle bit more a the chevy bel air -added rear trunk wing to resemble a bit more a the chevy bel air -balljointed a cybertron volt head cut of his visor and shaved of the sides -inverted the front bumper... had to make new screwholes (love that word) todo: -make my own flame decals -------------------- GREASER: -removed the wheels cut the stems and mounted g1 prime trailer wheels -removed all electrics (since his no laser dude anymore) -added a lego hotrod engine blower -cut of the hands and added balljointed hands from rotf scout breakdown -removed the head and replaced by one from some cybertron bot which body I used for Daniel's exosuit -cut enough from the front end to free some space for the head to fit todo: -try to find a way to get the screws I've used out of sight (might remove my custom toes) -that also means I've now decided to paint it g1 orange (but will paint around the decals!) -one size smaller autobot symbol -------------------- TRIP-UP: -removed the spoiler -shaved the pointy arches on the hood -did the arm door mods (x2) -removed wheels replaced with better suitable (unfortunatly no spin) -added Lego engineblockblower thingy todo: -paint obviously -paint or apply decals! -apply autobot symbol -optional: moddify the front(lights) -------------------- HUBS: I'm planning on completely casting a gold plastic syndrom g2 electro hotrod to make it last longer and obviously mod the whole back end! YES I'VE WON AN AUCTION FOR A PERFECT MINTY ELECTRO only $22... NOW I NEED YOU GUYS HELP FOR MAKING PERFECT CASTS!!! -------------------- Ok I'll try to work on this thread then! UPDATE: check pics! UPDATE2: -inverted the front bumper... had to make new screwholes (love that word)[ UPDATE3: Currently curing the paint of Big Daddy UPDATE4: Finally assembled Big Daddy.. I'm happy with him and to really get the G1 vibe going.. I'm thinking of gonna mask-paint the flames on the door! I already homemade a digital version that pretty much identical... If I freehanded I could do a part on the fender to, but the door-only is easier... what do you guys suggest? I could wait until my 1m2 decals arrive, but 1m2 is so large I still need to safe up before ordering, since Trip-Up & Hubs obviously need decals to and have to get them in hand to get them in the right size... so that could mean no decals until the final member is complete.. (should I wait to long? to yield better end results!) MINOR-UPDATE: Finally got a official bigdaddy to compare UPDATE6: again some cool progress on TripUP!
Wow. Already you've made a great start. Once RTS Windchargers finally start showing up in stores, maybe you can make Trip-up out of it. I don't know if you have an extra to experiment with, but how does the Cybertron Downshift mold look with either Tracks' or Optimus/Hoist's wheels? Those are what I'd like to use to make a General Lee-inspired custom out of surplus Big Daddy and Downshift parts.
thnx mate.. well chances are I get 2extra's including an original big daddy... If so... I'll transfer my current mods to that figure of course... I do... have some other wheel left kinda suited odschool style... I'll try to post a few pics and swap wheel for ya.... I can even temporary fit the optimus wheels on him so you've got an idea (the reason I did, is the other wheel don't fit Greaser and really wanted them all have different rims) PS Windcharger is far to small.... Unless I dump cyb.big daddy... Who knows (I think chances are very slim)
It's great to see you finally pushing through with these guys, and of course that you were able to keep to their original look without limiting yourself. When it comes to wanting to get your screws out of sight, you could always try & hunt down some tiny cabinet pins or something, but I wouldn't worry too much about that.
Classics Big Daddy [WIP] Well since I do many project at the same time and this project consist of 4 for which 2 I can't start without the right mold, so I think it's better to have a WIP for all individuals and eventually a completed for the team, but I will not bump these individual threads unnecessary I will inform changes via this thread: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/404667-classics-hotrod-patrol-team-wip.html sorry for the inconvenience... now let get kicking with the actual work... CLASSICS BIG DADDY: -feature a larger Lego hotrod blower/intake -features new wheels -removed some paint apps TODO: -find the right wheels (to many choices ) -make fins on the rear like a chevy bell air has -maybe chance the front to has those round headlight feel! -obviously paint, but this time I'll do my very first DYE job -make my first decals -balljoint the head -maybe mod the head (or make a shapeways) C&C Welcome... enjoy! UPDATE: Well there's no way back now... the spoiler will 75% go I guess.. it's just to much, I just can't find good wings I JUST THINK THESE WHEEL ARE 95% ACCURATE!! (although I love most other wheel, this is gonna be the final wheels) Anyways... the bumper is reversed still not sure if I do this... but if I do it will go up.. and there will be 2 pointy things sticking out! As you can see I trimmed down old camaro movie BB headlights UPDATE2: Damnz now I need some help choosing the wings... which one? @ the moment I like this one best! UPDATE3: OMG I know I loved the lego blower, but I think it would be to much if all 4members had the same, so I'm planning atleast greaser+hubs to have those for keeps, but the other to... well just look I've used Rid Sideburn's engine and I think it's ok I un-reversed the bumper for this photoshoot and I'm not sure if I should keep it like this or turn it around again and mod it??? the wings come from a broken modelkit airplane wings... and the tips in the bumper are from a modelkits rockets EDIT: Oh.. and I used the head of an weird Bugatti like TF, cut of the visor and shaved a little of the sides
The hubs are more accurate, but the tires are too narrow. Big Daddy's got fat, extra-wide tires that extend past his frame width, drag-racer style.
agree It was my fav to, but the are going on HUBS or TRIP-UP for sure But these still have rubber tires I would be cool if all 4 has them UPDATE: Well there's no way back now... the spoiler will 75% go I guess.. it's just to much, I just can't find good wings I JUST THINK THESE WHEEL ARE 95% ACCURATE!! that front view i'm think it needs huge horn! maybe for another custom. is look too cool. did you use those hotwheels with modification parts. i love this project. i might go to my local speciality store and finally get this dude.
You mean TF PRIME Cliffjumper?? WOW ... that's actually a great Idea!! UPDATE2: Damnz now I need some help choosing the wings... which one? @ the moment I like this one best! [CLICK HERE!]
I like the front spoiler there....that one looks great. I'm not feeling either rear spoiler set up though....maybe try Drifts spoiler?....
thnx sorry to dissapoint you but no more lego's on this build heheh agreed, has been taken care of UPDATE3: OMG I know I loved the lego blower, but I think it would be to much if all 4members had the same, so I'm planning atleast greaser+hubs to have those for keeps, but the other to... well just look I've used Rid Sideburn's engine and I think it's ok I un-reversed the bumper for this photoshoot and I'm not sure if I should keep it like this or turn it around again and mod it??? the wings come from a broken modelkit airplane wings... and the tips in the bumper are from a modelkits rockets EDIT: Oh.. and I used the head of an weird Bugatti like TF, cut of the visor and shaved a little of the sides
showed your custom to my buddy at work. we then drove towards the speciality store which is located on the other side of the highway. he bought big daddy for himself and stockade for me. got tax off. came back to work. see what you did there? this happened 5 minutes ago.
Thanks. The reason I picked those 2 styles is because they're closest to the 10-spoke rims (American Racing "Vector"s) used by the General Lee. (Prime's wheels have 8 spokes, Tracks' have 12.)
