One of the main issues most people have with the MechTech weapons is that the Deluxe class weaponry contain springs and can't lock in place like the Voyager and Leader class ones can. Luckily all you need is a philip or flat-head screwdriver with a really small head and you can fix them easily. If anyone remembers the arm fix for 2007 Leader Megatron, then this'll be a piece of cake.

We'll use Crankcase's Claw Cannon as an example. Here's what it would look like without any modifications. Stuck in the first position if the trigger isn't held:

Now let's take a look at the gun itself. To modify it you'll need to unscrew the two screws on one side of the gun (highlighted in yellow for your convenience):

Once you have the screws out and the cover off, all you have to do is remove the spring inside (the yellow square indicates the spring's location before removal):

After you put everything back together and put the screws back, you're pretty much done! Now when you pull the trigger on the gun and deploy it's secondary mode, it'll stay in that mode until you pull the trigger back to it's original position. Short, sweet and to the point. I did the same thing to Roadbuster and Skids' weapons, so it can be done for all of them.

I know what I'll be spending Monday afternoon doing...

Glad to see that this works. The only one I won't do it to is Ratchet because of the spinning gimmick.

I'm felling like in a joke, cause 2 ofthese threads popped out at the same day, but I have to say:

People, please take this one, cause this is the most practical way to do it!

Have done it with all my deluxe weapons and with the ironhidegun, cause the lock sucks at this one

I did the same thing before seeing this thread! I stiffened the main pivot piont, tho, so it won't flop open or closed. Looks and works great, love it.

This worked perfectly on the Crankcase I just picked up. I did it to Roadbuster too but now it's floppy and won't stay in either position, I'll have to go after it with the nail polish later. Still, thanks, this is awesome.

Huh, weird. Mine is slightly loose in chainsaw mode, but has no problem staying in place. Make sure when you do this that you screw the screws in as tight as you're able to. The tighter the screw, the sturdier the weapon will be.

I really love this toy/character a tenfold, it's highly influenced by that giant, hercules beetle. :thumb

Thanks for this! I'll have to do this when I get them.

Is it just me, or do those mech tech weapons look like great fodder for a combiner/ larger bot's arms??

I just tried this with my 2007 Megs. His cannon arm is much better now! I'll definitely give this a shot when I start getting deluxe Mech Tech toys...

If you still have the spring you can put it in his other arm so his mace gimmick is spring-loaded like it should be.

Holy smokes, that's an amazing improvement! I wonder if they just took out that spring for safety concerns or something...

i did this for deluxe Bee today, what a difference. however the mechenism without the spring was loose and floppy until i put a dab of glue onto the metal pin that houses the main trigger gear, now its nice and tight and deploys and stays deployed until i undeploy it.
