Mmmmmm....They couldn't be squeezed together any tighter huh. Funny cuz the measurements are the same as the stock ones...Maybe they are not mounted center?

Regardless, let me look at my file and see if I can push the sides in 1 or 2 mm...

Thanks for the pics! Very helpful and your SS is lookin good!

Alright...The hands have been updated; They are slightly narrower so it's easier for them to fit into Starscream's torso cavity in alt mode. For those whose hands are yet to be produced, you should (hopefully) be getting the updated version when they arrive.

For those who have already received their hands, a remedy would be to shave about 0.5mm of the side of each thumb. Thanks so much to Limewire for highlighting the problem!

I haven't tried transforming this guy yet, but the hands are the same size all around as the original except for the new knuckle spikes.
I had heard that some of Shapeway's past products had soft plastic that broke easily. I can say for these Starscream hands though, they are quite sturdy, although some parts are thin so I wouldn't TRY to break them.
The mod was easy enough, and came out looking great.
I'd actually been waiting for someone to cast some articulated SS hands for this figure, and these are exactly what I hoped for. An enormous improvement!

Pic shows my own with the new hands. I am also doing another as part of a commission.

Very nice! Man, I may just have to break down and get myself a Dremel kit, air brush, and compressor just to install and customize these awesome hands. XD Well, it'd give me an excuse to customize a few other things I've been wanting to try kitbashing together for real.

No way, this is a great deal. These aren't being mass produced. For such great articulation being done by an independent person, I think it's a great value.

Good luck! I'm sure they will work out well for you. I don't think sanding down the balljoint sideways too will give you any problem, as long as you're careful.

Yep, working on them the whole afternoon. My goal is to make them as worthy as a masterpiece figure. I have plenty of ideas on how to do it. We'd see how this goes...

MY GOODNESS THAT'S AWESOME. All the best for those customs!

Yeah, that was my original intention, easily available posable hands for everyone!

Yes you probably should invest. Customizing is amazing fun! Just be sure to practice on scraps before trying out on a valuable figure like leader Starscream.

Well, honestly most of the costs are for the material, as we are charged based on volume. 3D prints are expensive, no ones denying that. Shapeways just happens to be the cheapest, most value for money service out there.

I'm only making a minimal amounts off each sale, so prices can remain low. If that's too high a price I don't know what to say :(

I think I will! Though I'll probably hold off on any major custom works until I get back from my vacation in Japan (loaded with Takara-Tomy and other goodies, of course XD). I am trying my hand at painting over the long Memorial Day weekend, just to spruce of my Masterpiece Movie Starscream. His face definitely needs some loving.

And thanks for making these hands available to the general public! These really do look great and would help make an already awesome mold even more awesome! And yeah, I'll definitely practice on some cheap toys first; like a Goldbug/Bumblebee Legends figure or maybe a Hot Rodimus Revoltech (I have zero love for these characters, heh). Thanks again for the advice!

No problem! Always glad to help out. :thumb

I believe Zildjian provides a casting service for the hands you mentioned. I highly recommend supporting his excellent efforts!

Hope you have a good time painting over this weekend! The weather is incredibly nice out though, so you should catch some sun too.

Thx mate, but you misunderstand me ^^

I want ALTERNATE hand for the prime leaders, with claws, a evil version if you want to give them a name.

And the hands I ordered from zildjan (only 4 weeks left for shipping) are compatible with sentinel, but he is non transformable then, cause the ankle of the wrist ist slightly different

So sentinel hand are much appreciated

Oh...you should have mentioned alternate, evil hands earlier...
Planning a Nemesis Prime custom? :lol

I'm currently waiting for test samples of a new joint I'm working on. If successful, I will be able to come up with nice, good hands for lots of characters. Stay tuned!
