Wow! Nice job with the articulated hands! And I absolutely love that custom masterpiece of a movie Starscream! (Please let me know if it's ever for sale, heh.) I might just pick up a pair of these hands for my MPM-01 figure though I'm a total n00b at custom work (I'll have to pick up a Dremel too, eventually).

The shoulder parts are only red because they were part of the parts tree that got molded in red plastic. Same goes for his red toes. Through all releases of this figure, the shoulder parts were covered with silver paint. The red toes stayed untouched until Takara made sure to paint them silver with the blue detailing on their Buster Optimus and their Optimus/Jetfire 2-pack set.

I remember there was some article from a Business magazine back in 2009 that had an interview and photo shoot with Brain Goldner. In the photos Brain has with him this version of ROTF Leader Prime with all the extra transforming bits. I hope someday they re-release the figure again with those features restored along with the buster-gun gas tanks and sell it with a Premium-level paint job (like what Takara did with their Buster Optimus and their Optimus/Jetfire 2-pack set) under the Masterpiece line for American consumers. Damn I miss Premiums...

I was going to say the same, but I'll tell you to read HIS post again, he wasn't asking if the hands were for sale but if the Custom "Masterpiece Screamer" would ever be for sale.

Thanks y'all! I hope to see some of the artists here end up using the hands on their own Starscreams. That will be the ultimate compliment!

    I'm working on it...:)

Thanks for the help pointing that out! It's one of my main beefs about the stock hands. No knuckle spikes.

Detailed materials are smoother, shinier and much brittle. The Strong Flexible materials have a rough, powdery texture but they are pretty strong and flexible enough to accommodate ball-joints. It's always a compromise to find a design that works for all materials.

As I mentioned before, I've only tested them on Strong Flexible so far so that's what I'll recommend until further samples arrive.

After a few layers of paints and a clear coat, the grainy texture doesn't look too bad...It kinda resembles dirty metal. :)

Oh Strong Flexible material works pretty well enough...Just don't add inordinate amount of pressure on the knuckle spikes.

    Thanks!

Thanks process! Your work has inspired me much!

Let me know how it turns out!

    Well...someday I've gotta let it go...maybe... :)
But yeah, you DO need a dremel for these hands. There's no other way...

I only hope they are going to release a leader Optimus for DOTM that outdoes the ROTF version...Not that the latter is not amazing enough...

so, i happend what i expected: i have to remove all thumbs for the transformation, cause they affect the transformation heavily! so much that the transformation could not happen! when i remove them, all is fine!

    Hi Lime,

So you suspect the thumbs are too thick that they can't squeeze into the cavity for transformation?

Hmm...unfortunate setback then...I was pretty confident they will fit since I designed them based on the original hand sizes.

If it's not too much trouble, can you shoot a few pictures? Specifically how they are supposed to fit in alt mode and where the thumbs are obstructing transformation?

Glad they look good for you. You painted them already?

Wow these look great! I may just have to order a pair for my custom leader Screamer that i'm currently working on at the moment. A question i'd like to ask though, apart from the frosted ones which is the best to own?
    Thanks

I'd like some, but I would probably fail at installing them. Dammit!
