Up until a couple of days ago,i've never heard of Shapeways. There is so much stuff i want now,Thanks to everyone that is doing this. This will be the only way i can ever get all the target masters. Have you ever thought about doing Headmasters or powermasters? That would be awsome.
Woow that is small. And with a truckload of detail! Great to see you are testing the limits. Also, what does WSF and CD stand for?
This is pretty amazing... I'm liking what you've done here more than some of the other incarnations of the twins of late. But wow... so tiny! Out of curiosity, how much does it cost to have one of these printed out by Shapeways? zmog
Oh. Snap. Looks like these could turn out be a viable, or even preferable, alternative to the PE versions.
Thanks Bb! Nah, posing him with fingers is possible. But please be careful during assembly or when you're mounting his guns. The pieces (esp. the small head) gets lost so easily! Buy 4? You need shattered glass versions as well Buy a pair? Be patient dude...I think I'll be spending more of my time cadding than painting/modding for this period. But I think the results will be worth it! Thanks for the compliments, I'm very flattered! I have a few plans...Not traditional targetmasters but I think they'll be AWESOME. *mysterious* One or 2 days more dude...fingers crossed! Shattered Glass, dude. Buy 4! Sorry to be so vague in the first post. I hate typing so much on my tiny laptop. WSF is White Strong and Flexible material, CD is Clear Detail. Thanks! About $6-7 depending on the final mesh...Thanks for your support! Well, what I have going for me is price and availability! I do think the PE guys look really awesome though. Never could afford a set that's why I'm doing this.
...I'm very curious about the level of grainy texture on Clear Detail compared to WSF. Is the clear a completely smooth surface?
Those look awesome, nice work! For the Transparent Detail print, I'd recommend using a knife or something to clear out any uncured material in recesses, and then giving it a good washing with soapy water and a stiff brush. That should help a lot.
LOL could you suggest what type of paint would work best with the two types of materials? I have never done any custom work before. So im clueless but i really want these so im going to try my hand at custom painting these.
Now that i've looked at the pictures in the other thread, i honestly think these look MUCH better than the PE offering. Interactivity with Soundwave, and a more interesting Transformation to boot.
Surface quality greatly depends on the orientation the pieces are printed in. Generally surfaces facing sideways will have tiny but visible lines due to the layering of the prints, and surfaces facing up/down could possibly be smooth. As for slopes and spherical shapes forget it, there will be contour lines everywhere. Grainy is a word more suited for WSF. The detailed materials are layered. Good to hear from you, Ram! Thanks for the tip! However there are so many tiny nooks on this figure it's hard to get everything out. I was trying for the longest time yesterday. I have a question. Will there be any uncured material in white detail? I know WSF has close to none. I think you can follow process's, treadshotA1 or ramrider's threads. They will have more experience in painting Shapeways stuff than me. From what I know, most model paints can be used. Btw I'm honoured your first custom paintjob will be on my figure! Thanks man! You gave me too much credit...I really like the PE version I've updated the first post with the image too, or you can check my flickr.
If I get a WFC Soundwave, I'll try to grab one of these figures, impressive they are, yes... any parts forming required?
