    Haha...thanks for the kind words guys. Regarding paintjobs, I actually left 2 of them unpainted and standing around cuz they look pretty nice in their combination of white and translucent. I kinda gave the painted versions away...

    Just put in a large order at Shapeways, part of which was two Thuggers(FUD and Polished White Strongflex) and a polished white strongflex Slammer set. I can't wait...which is unfortunate, because they gave me an estimated wait time of 18 days for everything to get here ;w;

    Awesome work. Got my two about two weeks ago. I decided to clean and assemble them today and unfortunately Shapeways didnt send enough parts to even build one let alone two. I cant believe you managed to paint those little guys. They are so tiny.

    I finally got my missing parts in today (along with a weird bunny figure that is apparently part of some photo contest they are doing). Can't wait to put the second one together tonight!

    I think you did a fine job painting them. It looks good. I would be satisfied with those on my shelf. I probably would have used some silver on the body because it looks a little out of place exclusively on the guns.

    Are you having any paint rub issues?

    Well my little bundles of joy arrived today. By Primus they are tiny. I knew they were small but holy crap. They're the size of a D&D mini and as articulated as 6 inch figure!

    Taking a brush to them didn't do too much to solve the biggest residue issue. The female ports were solid when I got them so I had to use a wall tack (it was the closest thing around) to clean them out. I'm still picking some of the dust out. Also I'm having issues attaching them to any port. I have yet to fully close Soundwave's chest with one in because I can't get it closed. And my thumbs still hurt from trying to get some of those joints together. I'm confidant this material can take a beating though since I had to force them in with a LOT of effort.

    But at the end of the day, these things are fantastic! I love them. And the fact they came from a 3D printer is just icing. I'll probably take some pictures tomorrow.

    Now I really want a Lazerbeak and Ravage.

    Well I said I would take some pictures, so take some pictures I did. Picture dump warning!

    So yeah it didn't occur to me until after I had started that a tiny white figure would be invisible on a tinfoil background, hence the closeups.

    But I did want to show off some of my fan modes that I've figured out. There's a mini-jet, mini-tank, and mini-microscope.

    I just love these little guys. They are so amazing. I keep finding myself picking them up and playing with them. And thanks to how much force I had to use to get them together I do not fear breaking them easily. These things are fantastic.

    I have been watching these since v 1.0 and I have got to say they are quite impressive. The detail that you put into these and the help and support you have provided to all those who purchased them deserves some major props.

    I know you have given your reasons for not doing a larger scale, but I still wish you would consider that. Just because PE has something, yours are so unique that you would not step on anyone's toes. And even though they would not fit as cassettes, they would still function as weapons/target masters perfectly!

    Again, amazing work on these.

    Yeah...the 18 days is a bummer, especially after you realise that it's 18 working days so in actual fact you're waiting for a whole month with weekends included. I never print my test samples in Polished anymore as I will not get anything done in time.

    That's a big order you made there and I hope every cent is worth it for you!

    Great! Thanks so much! :thumb

    I must say the gracious contributions of pictures of Thuggers all over the world helped :)  I'm proud of every single one shown here.

    I hope they'll manage to get the missing pieces to you soon! A tip for painting: toothpicks are your best friend!

    I didn't even get the bunny :(

    I can't wait to see your FUD Thugs painted!

    It looks good :)  A little too much black for my taste, but it did make the red stand out nice. Good job!

    I'm just so humbled that you are already coming up with fan modes for my design. And they look great dude, I especially love the tank one, it's sweet. The microscope took me awhile to grasp though lol.

    Are the ports still giving you any problem? Can Soundwave's chest close now?

    You know, my original plan for the Thuggers was to make them larger, closer to cyberverse scale. Ryoku's fan modes just rekindled that inspiration and I think I should go back to the sketching board again...

    Thanks for all the comments guys!

    Hehe, fan modes just kind of happen when I just play with a figure absent mindedly. I actually have come up with what I think is a better tank mode but don't have the camera to show it.

    To do this new tank mode, first fold back the head. Fold the lower legs against the upper legs and tuck the feet in. Have the feet pointed outward. It should form a V-ish shape. On the arms transform them like you would for "cassette" mode but rotate the lower arms 180 so they are pointed backwards. Now slap the cannons on the back. Bam, improved hovertank.

    I can't get Soundwave to close. I've made one Thugger that is just about perfect. But the newest problem with the imperfect legs is that I can't get the feet to fold flush. I discovered that when I tried to get it out of his chest and they were trying to open inside. It was acting like a fishhook. I had to slide some card stock in to force the feet closed enough that I could remove it. I'm not sure why one pair of feet fold flush against the leg but the others do not. I do know that I need to trim the posts on most of the connections to give a better fit. They keep popping off from a gust of wind.

    I think you are fine at the scale you're in. These guys have such a simple base to them that you can do a lot with them. So I'd think more guys at this scale just slightly tweeked to give other modes would be cool. But hey if people want to buy bigger ones, give the people what they want. Me, I love my super tiny buddies.

    So far, it has been. Got a couple of Drawn Steel Hero's targetmasters, Redshift's chainsaw and shotgun targetmasters, and Process's Superion upgrade/energon adaptors/Kup guns today. I think the Thuggers are the only thing missing now, but I can be patient <.<

    Make sure you have the feet attached to the right spot. Try flipping it with feet attached to where the thighs attach.

    Good idea but no, they're attached in the right spot. I paid extra attention to the parts as I was assembling them.

    I have a question I hope someone here can provide some insight on. So my FUD arrived Monday at my home (where I'm not currently residing; should get it in my hands tomorrow). I have plans to paint him up and I've read all about cleaning him and warming the plastic in warm water for assembly.

    My first thugger (WSF) I painted all the pieces before I ever assembled him for ease of paint application. Will it be a problem to submerse the pieces in warm water for assembly after they've been painted, or do I need to assemble him before painting? Maybe I need another method of warming the pieces? Sorry for the noob question, but I don't have a lot of experience in painting custom figures.

    One trick I used was to paint only the rub surfaces and hard to reach areas (i.e. the top of the upper arm where the shoulder piece sockets in) and then assemble the whole thing. You can use warm water at this stage since the paints are only on certain areas. Once assembled, paint the other parts.

    Don't apologise! I'm glad you asked this question otherwise I wouldn't know what problems you guys are facing with the Thuggers.

    So I finished putting together my second FUD guy that Shapeways finally sent me. Again, no issues for me. I stick to my guns that they are solid enough to be a good option for folks as long as they take their time and heat them up first in warm water. In fact this second guy had none of the loose joints of the first, including the head. This one was epic win all the way.

    Major pic dump warning here as well as I go over some of the "issues" I think some folks have as well as show some cool tricks.

    First couple pics are just comparisons from "Cassette" to Robot;

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    Here are the "twins" hanging out together, both made of 100% Frosted Ultra Detail;

    [IMG]

    Here is a couple shots of one in "Weapons" mode and the other hanging out for the ride with Soundwave in vehicle mode. Note that "Weapons" mode is different than "Cassette" mode. The feet are flipped out to become rockets in this mode. More on why that's important later;

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    Couple pics of both of them deployed on Soundwave in "Weapons" mode;

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    So here is where the two modes are important. For the folks saying they are having trouble fitting them in Soundwaves chest. They MUST be in "Cassette" mode with the feet folded into the legs or they will never fit. I haven't had a single problem or had to squish either of the guys I got. They fit like a glove. Pics showing what they look like when inserted correctly and later with the door shut;

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    Lastly for the folks wanting some game accuracy, Soundwave has a machine gun (his shoulder cannon) and rockets in the game as his two weapons (not counting his special move). If you want to display him that way but still have a place to put his hand gun, it fits perfectly between his legs if you so desire. Observe;

    [IMG]

    These guys are wicked cool and as soon as things cool down after my wife has our baby any day now I will be painting these guys up. Wanted to throw out there I have a handful of parts and a second set of guns in FUD if anyone needs them from Shapeways botched first order. As soon as I get together enough for the $25 I am going to pick up the piledrivers to go with them even though I think the guns double just fine for that purpose. The piledrivers sold separately are game accurate after all :)
