As a member of several TF sites, I will be contributing to several charity auctions, from Pro-Customizers to Sector 70. However, to help in any way I could with the effort in Japan I wanted to tackle a project that spoke to my love of Japanese culture, particularly anime. See, I'm a big Anime fan. At any given day you might catch me watching Bleach, Naruto, Samurai Champloo, Ghost in the Shell, or one of the many Gundam Series. I decided to do an Anime related auction because of that.

This is the HG 1/144 scale D-50C Loto from the Gundam Unicorn series. It really struck me how much he resembled a pre-earth Roadbuster. A few simple modifications have been made, like mounting the shoulder cannon to the rear backpack. This little guy (just under 3 and half inches) was all hand painted and sealed with Testors Model Master Flat Clear Acryl.

Auction proceeds will go to the Japan Red Cross. Gundam and Transformers. 2 of my favorite iconic franchises from Japan in one project. Enjoy! More pics HERE.

That is a fantastic looking figure you've made. The Gundam really does resemble Roadbuster alot and your paint apps just amaze. :)

HA, that looks so cool man, I had no idea it was a 1/144 until I seen Magnus next to him...damn he's small. BUt great job, the paint is awesome!
How the hell is you get your camara to take such good shots close up..I fail at pictures.

OMG I was staring at this figure not too long ago on HLJ and had the same idea!!! I just knew that this guy would make a great Roadbuster and this is total proof. It's a shame he's so small cause he'd be a great alternative to those expensive Mugen Calibur toys for a classics styled and scaled figure of the character. You did a great job painting him (as you always do) and I'm sure whoever buys him with be very happy with their purchase. I know I would be.

Glad to see I'm not the only guy who thought those things looked like Roadbuster:lol

Still, an EXCELLENT job on that figure.

Well a TIP for closeups... my cam is for example is very HQ, but the lens currently on it I use for everything, so MACRO isn't it's favorite :)  but when I use regular setting and use realtime viewvinder... make the sharpest distance I can get, before I see the image blurr... then take a shot... and just CROP the rightplaces so you can focus on the details ;)

to OP... WOW impressed by the scale!!!

Nice use of that mold. Might look good in scale with the Revoltech TFs. Shame Bandai didn't make it in 1/100 scale or bigger.

Once I started seeing the Unicorn series model kits and this guy, I totally had a feeling someone was going to do this, and it doesn't surprise me that it was you who 1st used them.

Seriously looks even better than I was imagining it really does pull off a WW vibe. Great work man keep it up

I absolutely love the Loto kit I have. He does involve the Roadbuster vibe, but too bad Bandai only make 1/144 scales of those. if 1/100, he can be a perfect stand in Roadbuster for the display.

Your paintjob always inspires me, brah. :thumb

Macro shots and good lighting, man. Some good directional lights and something to diffuse it will work wonders!

Thanks, man. IMO that Mugen Caliber fig SUCKS!!!

    Thanks, BB.

    Gracia, hombre.

I'm REALLY hoping they do a 1/100 of this guy. Such a great figure. Thanks, Tcracker.

I have to say I completely agree you there. It looks like it is a lot better (articulation and sculpt wise) than the original figure, but somehow it still looks kinda crappy. It may be that my opinion is colored a little with me getting back into GunPla lately with the release of the new MGs from Gundam Wing and wanting everything to have the crazy articulation and posability of Bandai stuff but that Mugen Caliber fig just falls short somewhere. I think it is that I don't like how high up his leg joints are mounted and how the arms are articulated that bug me the most. It obviously has some awesome potential though as illustrated in this thread posted earlier this year but he's just not perfect dammit! I'm really hoping that Bandai will make a 1/100 sized version of the Loto too, but I'm not holding my breath. I guess there is always the option of scratch building one. You'd be able to make him a lot more Roadbuster-y that way I guess.
