Another transformer my friend commissioned, this time, the universe's favorite whipping-bot, Waspinator. Going into this new Predicon, he knew he wanted Waspinator to be a jet, like his botcon pre-earth form. We went back and forth between RotF Thrust and Classics Starscream forever, and, in the end, the Thrust mold won. He's a rather basic repaint, with the neck mod to give his head articulation, and wasp eyes and some antennae sculpted on. Added some splashes of purple too to his wings and chest to give a slight nod to Animated Waspinator too.
Oh, most definitely more Beast Era transformers will be coming. This commission I'm working on is rather large. There are more Preds, plus the Maximals, that are coming soon. Not everyone from Beast Wars made the cut, but, there are a few, well, interesting ones that I don't think a lot of people would expect to show up to show up. I already have one other Predacon done (Megatron, which you can see here) and another one that I should actually be finishing up sometime tonight. I also have a few of the Maximals almost done as well (they just need some touch-ups really, that I've been mildly lazy about doing)
So a Thrust becomes Waspinator, what irony. This is pretty good, just needs a few Predacon logos on it.
While harsh, I have to agree. The paint job is very...thick it looks. And it's shiny. It would help a lot to use flat paints instead. (I'm talking mainly about the yellow)
I admit, on the wings I did go a little bit thicker than I would have liked because I kept having issues with even coverage on them, but, everything else on Waspinator was done in 3 coats or less, including a thin coat of primer, and excluding the spot here or there that wanted to be a pain in the ass. As for the shininess, that's the was I was asked to do it. ...that, and also, I kinda lost about $200 worth of paints a few months back ago when I moved cross-country. I only have about a fraction of what I use to have, so, I used what I had.
I think this is a great concept. While a part of me echos the others' sentiments about the paint application, I think I'd like to see a nice black wash to weather the whole thing just a little. I think some of the streakiness of the paint would blend well with a weathered application. Sometimes it's how one makes use of the things like this that happen to one's advantage Great work, thanks for sharing, and certainly keep it up
i dog the color scheme allot - that mold suits wasponator like a glove paint apps need more love though
