i wanted to get rid of his huge chest flap. it works well as a back on swipes and red alert, but i thought it hung to low and hindered his waist articulation, also made it look like he had no wasit.

all i had to do was run a knife along the seam where the windshield meets the roof, then did the same to the side windows, then did the same to the underside. after a few minutes of light scoring, it easily popped apart.
glued the winshield to the hood,(where it attaches for car mode)

    STILL TRANSFORMS PERFECTLY

in my opinion, gives a more G1 Sunstreaker look.
    end product, looks like this

let me know if you think its an improvement

    Update - 1PM
i just found out that since the 2 pieces are the same shape on the cut line, you can tuck the windsheild under the roof/chest, and it friction holds, when you slide it in it centers itself,
and now you have an even more accurate sunstreaker
AND YOU CAN STILL ATTACH HIS VENTS!!!!!YAY

    UPDATE MARCH 26

Swapped out shoulders from sunny with red alert

built 2 slide rails out of styrene

i messed up the paint on the inside of the windshield, thought it was dark clear plastic, its not
its clear plastic with a clear dark gray coat on the underside,
WARNING - dont use too much glue on inside of windsheild, or this will happen:

nothing a little paint wont fix

    TUTORIAL PICS TOMORROW!!!

    extra steps in transformation:
1 - start to bend legs back
    2 - slide windshield forward
    3 - raise the roof
    4 - slide windshield back
5 - lower roof onto windshield

    SUNSTREAKER

Lamborghini molds now looking more and more different.
also you will notice the leg panels i am making for sideswipe for a more G1 feel
    more on that later

Looks good, but I think if the windshield could be cut in half, thus giving a little more coverage to his front it'd kick ass.

    I love it.

In fact, I'd love to see it in the "sideswipe" config, with the windshield in the front to give a "Kup" sort of look for a new character.

    nice work.

i totally agree, that was my original intention, but the groove was just too easy to cut along, i thought of marking it with tape half way down, and cut along it, but i didnt trust my 'skills', and i didnt want to try to snap it where the plasitc was so curved, ill try it on my next attempt:thumb

I think it's a great mod but it might be better for a different character. With the windshield in the abdomen area and the engine stored behind the head, where you have the windshield mounted, is more Classics Sunstreaker. Red Alert, Sideswipe, and Punch/counter punch could not use this mod since they use the hood side for Bot mode. I think I am going to use this for the, Stunticon, Breakdown, since he was the same car type. Thanks for sharing.
Having the abdomen area exposed does look more muscular and it does have some mold details that are always hidden. Well now that I have transformed C Sunstreaker back to bot mode, I guess it's time to change the rest of my Classics back, too. (There goes the rest of my day)

nice mod here PB.....I like the new look.

have you given any thought about making a slide or hinge for the new two piece design?....you know, something that holds it all together, but still would allow you to slide the windshield up and under like you have it there in the pics....

i have, there isnt much clearance, it would be possible to build a slide rail, but i dont have much room to work with, under the panel, the black swivel piece is a flat black rectangle, it would be easy to make a corresponding female part which would slide along the black rectangle on the chest, since the chest is already on a hinge, you could lift the chest and slide the window under
