This is a follow-up to the original Vantage thread, now with painted pics of the snipey little blighter.

He was painted fairly simply with Inscribe Raven (black) and Vallejo Gunmetal, with the face done in Inscribe Pure Silver and Blue Mist for the eyes.

    Enjoy!

If you like him and fancy one (or more) for yourself, he's now available to buy from my Shapeways store.
Assembly and transformation instructions are linked from the product description, and are posted HERE.

i love the designs. but they all seem like they need to be sanded down to something.
the dont seem to have such smooth surfaces.

Thanks, Thielmj! I hope you enjoy them, and I'd love to see pics when you've got them painted! :D

It's true they're not entirely smooth, Javaco, due to the printing process, but I think the photos do make them look a bit rougher than they are; I had to use a flash, so that's probably highlighted it a bit. Also, I actually like the slight texture (as well as being a bit eager to get him up for sale ;) ), so it's not post-processed as much as it might be; I'll probably give him another coat or two of clearcoat, which will help level out the surface, and I'll snap some more photos.

I totally dig the two gray ones, I think the pictures you got of them look great!

The Black one... needs some polish on the paintjob, but otherwise is VERY cool.

    Thanks, guys!

I agree about the paintjob, Reni. Like I said, I was kind of eager to get the photos taken - but I'm retouching him a bit at the moment. More pics coming soon. ;)

They're printed in what Shapeways calls White, Strong & Flexible, or laser sintered Nylon PA 2200. Basically it's made from nylon powder, fused solid by selective application of a laser beam. Here's their information page on the material, including a video of how it's made.

And yeah, it's really strong, and if you've got thin parts (like 1-2mm thin), they're far more likely to flex than break.

Yeah, it's not too bad, you could sand it if you wanted to. On the whole, though, I feel it's better building the surface up than sanding it down; a couple of decent coats of varnish will quickly fill the pores, and you've a far lower risk of accidentally removing any raised detail in the figures.

These are really solid designs on par with anything 3rd party companies are putting out there. You should really look in to having these made and sold as full on figures

Wow, excellent work! The transformation rocks, considering it looks better than G1 TM gun modes. :thumb

    Thanks, guys!

Thanks - I hope you enjoy 'em!
Yeah, I don't make a heck of a lot off each sale, but I wanted to keep them as affordable as possible. Also, I figured that while people might be willing to pay through the nose for a new 3rd party figure, complete straight out of the box, it doesn't seem fair to charge as much for a kit...

Thankye kindly, sir! I'm trying to make the non-homage Gunslingers as original as I can. This one was an interesting transformation to try and figure out, almost as much as the Tommy gun... ;)

I greatly appreciate having affordable customs for a change. I'm only into the plastic crack fixes, really don't like having all the fancy packaging anyway. All that does is send the price up.

Didn't see the Tommy Gun!?!? Can you post a link to it? I'll more than likely buy a few of those.... :D

I look forward to hearing the screams! :lol

Thanks. Articulation's one of the big selling points for me; I like to play with my toys and pose them and such, not just stand them on a shelf at attention.

The Tommy gun's still a WiP, not even at the prototype stage yet. But here's a sneak preview to give you an idea of what to expect (yeah, at the moment the legs are almost a direct lift from Vantage :p )...
