Hey Everyone, this is my first time ever painting with a paint brush and on the transformers. Well after looking at all the amazing artist who custom and paint these figure, I decided to give it a try. I try to make Brawl Lower body scratch up because when he's in tank mode, his body is on the bottome. so he would be scratch up where ever he goes. Sorry about the bad lighting. Need to get better lighting plus background. So please let me know what you think! good or bad comment, I don't mind. it's the only way for me to get better! I hope...
Flipping heck. That's actually what i said as i looked at that thing. The black and blue camo looks really great! I'd say use a darker blue next time (this one looks a bit like that atrocious "Allspark Blue" Hasbro loves to use), but nevertheless, absolutely epic! I have two bits of advice for you, though. That is to say, two things i think could really make this top-notch. First, try candy coating the eyes. That means, paint the eyes silver, then paint clear red (yes, there is clear red paint) over the silver. This creates a shiny, reflective surface, which means you'll see the eyes better. Secondly, those treads. Drybrushing silver on those treads makes them look like worn metal, but treads aren't metal. So, try drybrushing some browns, tans, golds and greens (really any colour you'd see on the ground, so brown for dirt, green for leaves and grass, etc.) on the treads over the silver, and you should be good to go. Really nice job so far.
Not metal? I thought tanks mostly still used metal tracks; rubber belts are mostly just used for agricultural vehicles.
Thank you guys, gonna try to paint Drift and MP skywarp soon. but this time maybe more of my graffiti color I used. don't know if that well work well. Thanks, I like those camo color combo, might try to used it next time for sure. Thanks for the advice, I will get some clear red paint and try that out for sure. plus I gotta mix some color too. This whole time am sketching on paper, painting on walls and canvas for art show but painting on transformers is so much fun. this may sound crazy but drybrushing silver vs aluminum give it different effect? I only had Aluminum colors.
first of all your welcome ... and well It's always better than just red (I also used gold and then cover with trans-red. but I do think silver/chrome is best)
He looks pretty cool. I like the camo effects but not that shade of blue. Like Treadshot said, it does remind me of that all spark blue. Still, it does not take away from how nice this is.
Proves how much I know about tanks. Regardless, you're more likely to see treads with dirt and dead leaves and stuff stuck to it than one that is shiny silver. Hence, I stand by my choice to paint all my tank treads with a mixture of at least five paints: gold, brown, dark brown, bronze and a really really light splattering of silver. Some green as well sometimes for forest tanks.
Love the camo effect you added to him, but I would agree with a little different color.. the darker blue or purple, maybe even darker greens. As for the treads, yep, adding some "earth" details would make the tank mode more realistic. His bot mode looks great, good job!!
I really want to get one for a good price, but so far no luck. No worry, I will get some earth color for sure and will be updating him for the treads for sure. plus I think I kinda mess up with dry brushing! I used the small brush VS the big brush. Thanks you guys for the comment and the support!
AMAZING! I'm a big fan of the blue and the gold highlights make it really pop. Keep up the sick work, man.
