I could use some rifles for Sideswipe and Prowl.

That was actually my main reason for doing this. Prowl and Sideswipe (and Red) need to have something that looks like their original weapons.

I am. Almost all that are shown are "White, Strong and Flexible" except for the white gun that Sunstreaker is holding (and the other white Prowl-ish gun) are "White Detail". Right now "White Detail" to me is the way to go with my designs.

On a side note, is there also interest for different mount styles - 5mm handle, 3mm clip, micron plug? I think I've figured out a way to have a interchangeable system but my current 3D software has its limits. If there is a interest I may explore other software options to see if I can my idea to work.

I'd be interested all those types of mount styles, I've just now got my first figure with the 3mm clips and I love that style now.

Very nice! I hope you plan on selling these eventually.

Question: did you model the peg sizes to exactly 5mm, or did you need to include a tolerance?

Suggestion: Shapeways parts dye very easily. If you want the best detail and color, consider using the transparent detail (white detail might work fine too) with Rit dye. I did some testing with this the other night, with great results.

the 3mm clip option seems interesting enough for me that some of my designs would work for all three mount types. I'll see if I can pull my idea off.

I think eventually they'll be up for sale once I finalize each design. Thanks for the tip on transparent detail. Looks like White detail and Transparent have the same type of detail and smoothness. I really don't like the White, Strong and Flexible (WSF) since things come out grainy IMO.

As for the 5mm peg, it's just a 5mm peg. =) White Detail holds up pretty well. WSF seems to flake off so I'm guessing after time the peg will get worn down more so than with White Detail (or I'm guessing the same as Transparent)

I thought so, but I wanted to make sure before I moved the thread into Customs :)

Creative GD is the place for either concepts (no actual work made, but wanting ideas, etc), general discussion topics, or discussion of other artists' work.

Customs is for persons to post their own work, like yours here! :)

Gotcha! Thanks for fixing that for me. I was hoping for some discussion on some of my designs but either works and want to make sure I don't make too much work for ya S7.

VERY sweet! I love the TF-Shapeways-Artist community. I'd be interested in 5mm and 3mm-clip attachements especially, but I would definitely go for some mini-con ports as well (my PCC drones are all crying for arms!)

LOVE the retro G1 design work you're doing on these!!!

These fit the Classics aesthetic nicely. I'll be keeping an eye on this

Those all look very nice. I'm not 100% sure the detail material would be durable/flexible enough for a 3mm clip, but we'll never know if we don't try, right?
What material is the bottom left gun?

thanks everyone for the kind words. I've got a few other designs I'm working on mostly to get a bunch of 5mm handle guns out there. I should probably put up more teasers. :p

for the 3mm clip I'd have to figure out what material to use just to see how durable it'll be. I think detailed should be flexible enough but not too sure about the durability.

That bottom left gun is made from Alumide. In hand, the color looks nice, the detail does come out a tad better than WSF but it's still too grainy for my tastes.

One option could be to have any parts that need enough durability printed seperately. That way, you could have something mostly detailed, while keeping any clips and joints strong and flexible.

I really love that little pistol sunstreaker is holding i would love to get probably about 4 of those for cliff/bee and red/swipe hell that thing looks small enugh you could probably find a space in the vehicle mde to store it in.

Do you have a link to your shapeaway desighns

Another update on a few prototypes ...

These are made with translucent material and then dyed in "grey" (though they look blue-ish or black-ish)
