Oh wait. Here's something that looks like will fit... As you see it, this is Octoducks final prototype. Most of what I've been fiddling with the past two months is how the head sits/fits during vehicle mode. As it stands I seemingly can't shrink it down any further without going through a total redesign. I'm sure the real question that most people will have is "Does it work during transformation?" The short answer is "Yes, it does." The long answer is "It can be a tight fit with transforming the shoulder covers over the head in vehicle mode." Right now I'm working on getting all the individual parts available on Shapeways along with all the parts for a complete Octoduck upgrade set. The individual parts will be: the head, set of 4 tentacles, and trident parts. For those who get the complete set it'll include a set of blaster plugs that fit into the holes for the missiles (since the missiles will be part of the trident). The blaster plugs are styled after one of G1 Octopunch's hand guns. More pictures will be coming to showcase all this. Thanks for everyone's patience!
Wings! Still getting organized post 2012 but here's something to chew on ... (well just one prototype wing for now) I know, I know. A moot pt once Beast Hunters Smokescreen will come out relatively soon. But hey figured I'd still share and finish this project for those that got the Arms Micron Smokescreen version. The wings peg into the hole in the back tires along with clipping onto the bar that the wheels are on for added stability.
It didn't seem right When one thinks of G1 Soundwave a few things come to mind. He's a cassette player He's blue colored He's got some iconic looking weapons that aren't shared with out Transformers. I think most folks were pretty excited at Botcon 2012 when Hasbro showed a slide of a Voyager sized Fall of Cybertron Soundwave that had a ton of visual aspects taken from his G1 form. Now that the toy has been out for a month or so there have been so many complaints about FoC Soundwave not having his iconic laser rifle. Hopefully this rights that wrong.
Sorry but I don't have a Classics Megatron gun mode available as a usable gun. I thought there was another designer who had made one (or I'm thinking of a 3P that showcased one a few years ago). I have been working on adding accessories to the G1 Legends Megatron to give him the full stocked gun mode. That should be released soon.
The road to conquest is filled with Autobot wrecks G1 inspired weapons for the Combaticons. Onslaught's is the same design as the one I made for Classics Onslaught though I hollowed it out a tad to help drop the costs down. Essentially four new weapons for the rest of the crew: Swindle, Vortex, Brawl and Blast Off
Finally, No More Tears Well I'm sure there will be some tears. Maybe. After about a year's amount of work and prototyping here's pictures of the complete BC12 Octoduck Upgrade set. I will be the first to admit this was a painful process. I learned a ton but trying to be a perfectionist with these kits my disclaimer is when I have time I do plan on tweaking this set. The head, though it fits, can be a tight fit when transformed into vehicle mode. The tentacles, due to the material, can be loose as ball and socket joints. A little of nail polish could help with that. I want perfection and yet it's not always achievable. Beyond that it's GREAT! For now only the complete set and the head will be available on Shapeways. On to other things, including something already in the prototyping stage for BC13.
Nobody Turns Their Back On Me! The relatively new Fall of Cybertron toys have generally been hit or miss. Their small size and hallow forms (either vehicle or robot modes) leaves a lot left to be desired. There are a few though that are not that bad. That's the case for Fall of Cybertron Starscream. Yes, he's hollow in vehicle mode but does look pretty neat in both his vehicle and robot forms. Part of the "gimmick" for these latest Fall of Cybertron toys is that they include weapons featured in the actual Fall of Cybertron video game. In Starscream's case the weapon he does come with isn't bad, I personally like the look of the guns while he's in his jet mode. However, as always, there are people who want new weapons for them. That's where I come I guess. I wasn't really looking to just upgrade Starscream but to add more weapons as general Seeker replacements. This is Version 1 of additional weapons to outfit Fall of Cybertron Starscream (or future Seekers like the upcoming FoC Thundercracker). If you think you recognize the design I was inspired by Cybertron Supreme Class Starscream pop-out laser.
Nobody Turns Their Back On Me! (Part 2) This is Version 2 of the Supreme Class Cybertron Starscream inspired weapons for the Fall of Cybertron (or really any Seeker) Starscream figure. It basically holds the same look with differences on the barrel and parts of the back end.
hope you like it! Looks like the tentacles are preventing Polish from being an option. The helmet, trident and guns seemingly are fine. Would people be interested in a bundle that didn't include the tentacles? If there's enough interest then I can put that together so Polish would be available. And sorry for a lack of updates. Life has been busy. There's a ton of stuff I want to share (WIPs/completed projects/upcoming teasers) but just haven't had the time.
Hey, any chance you'd do an IDW style Bomb-burst set for HFTD Terradive? I've been trying to do my own custom for a while now, but I just can't find a head that's remotely close.
I'm considering getting this set myself, and I'd much prefer WSFP as a material -- nice and strong, and the polishing makes the regular WSF's coarse surface much more attractive. Losing the tentacles wouldn't be the end of the world, but they are pretty cool. Any chance you could rework the tentacles for WSFP? Failing that, maybe offer them separately so I could get them in regular WSF and the rest in WSFP.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind if the tentacles were released separately, I just broke one of the clips, and I don't want to have to buy the whole kit again for one clip, also I may want to add-on a couple more tentacles, lol. Anyway I have the whole kit painted and installed (got it in FUD, and I have the broken tentacle braced on a piece of Styrene) and it looks AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! I'll post a pic hopefully soon, but as I am forgetful, it may be a while lol
Heads are a bit trickier for me to do. hence one reason why the Odctoduck took me so long to do and that's essentially just a giantic sphere =P I can definitely offer the tentacles as a separate item. To get them larger to satisfy WSFP will take me a bit to figure out. Overall I'd still like to improve on the tentacles just so they satisfy being able to be printed in polished ugh, sorry about one of the clips being broken. Was it one of the c-clips or a tentacle piece? Glad you like it! That is awesome looking! Thanks for sharing the picture!!!
